Hi I'm Chase Porter

I grew up in Gilbert, Az. I'm father of 4 boys and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 4 boys and my wife is expecting our first daughter. I graduated college from ASU's construction management program. I work for my Dad's construction company as a project manager/estimator. My hobbies include basketball, excercising, playing with my boys, and making home movies. On a average week I play basketball 3-4 times a week.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been going to church (LDS/Mormon) my whole life and have always loved hearing about the stories of Jesus and His life. For me as a young child, my love of chruch started very young, as I sung primary hyms. To this day I can vivedly remember sitting in chruch with other children my age and feeling a calm peaceful feeling as we sung songs like "I am a Child of God" , "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam", and "I'm trying to be like Jesus". These peaceful calm feelings would return to my life at home as I would share with a brother or sister or when I would help my mother. I came to understand these feelings as God's communcation with me, his way of letting me know that he approved of what I was doing. Like every kid I became experienced in making dumb decisions as I got older, but that desire to stay close to that feelilng I experienced as a kid along with the reinforement of the chruches teachings/instructions to teenagers (abstain from alcohol, tobacco, drugs, waiting until 16 to date, avoiding pronography, and no premarital sex before marrige) kept me away from much heartache. My relationship with my Savior and God grew much through my teenage years a I set standards for things I would and would not do in my life. At the age of 19 I felt a strong desire to go on a mission. This opportunity provided me with many ways to love and serve others. My mission call came from the Prophet Gordon Hinkley, I was sent to southern Peru. For 2 years I learned to love and serve others. That feeling I felt as a young child returned to me in Peru. Not only did I have the opprotunity to serve and help others, but had the opprotunity to tell of Jesus and God's love to the people of Peru. Some may not understand how people can say they beleive in Jesus and God when they have not seen them, but when we chooses to seek and follow his commandments he speaks to our hearts through the Holy Ghost. I know Jesus loves me. I would encourage any who read this profile to seek and follow him.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the Elders Quorum President. This calling allows me to organize the men in my ward to provide service. Lately we I have been helping coordinate a lot of move-ins and move-outs. I send out e-mails and make calls to arrange trailers, trucks, and times. I also make monthly visits to 2 families to check up on them and give them a scripture message and check in on them.
