Hi I'm Kelci

I grew up in Omaha. I moved to college and joined the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I play the flute and piano. I am a music teacher at a Catholic school. I share my beliefs about the church with my students because they ask me questions all the time about how it is different. I teach 160 kids a day. I love my job!!! I joined the church when I was in college, without permission from my parents. They didn't know until I got married. I have been married for almost 2 years and it is the best thing.

Why I am a Mormon

In March 2009, I went on a trip to Omaha with two friends. Both of these friends were members of the Church. I met several other members from my college town. At the time, I was not a member of the Church. I started meeting with the missionaries two days after this event. I was baptized three weeks later, the first Saturday in May. I am the only member of my family. However, I got married in February and am glad I don't have to say it as often. :)

How I live my faith

I go every Sunday and hang out with other ladies in the Church. I play piano and flute in a variety of aspects of Church. I lead singing most Sundays with the little kids. I accompany the high school age girls and lead girls night on Wednesdays. I study my scriptures. I invite people to church. I even teach a Mormon girl at the Catholic school!

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We are all asked to serve in Church. I was always raised not to receive payment for service. I enjoy serving and it means more when I don't get paid. The leader is the same. He doesn't get paid because he likes serving others. Show more Show less
