Hi I'm Cheryl Taylor

I grew up in Iowa. I taught Pre-K for 11 years. I'm a Mom to 4 & Grandma to 4. I love to smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was the middle child of 5 growing up in Iowa. I loved to read, be outdoors and be involved in PROJECTS as I grew up! I still love a project. I love to read, scrapbook, cook, sew, garden, hike, bike, run, blog, TRAVEL and play games with family. I have traveled to Spain, Venezuela, Thailand, Laos, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, St. Thomas &Virgin Islands, China, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic. But, there is still a whole lot of world to explore. Family is hugely important to me. I have a great husband, 4 children and 4 grandchildren. They are the love of my life. We have been through a lot together from the miracle birth of our youngest son to the experience in the burn unit with one of our daughters. I graduated from BYU in Consumer Economics. I taught Pre-Kindergarten for 11 years before accepting an assignment to serve the Lord with my husband as a Mission President from 2011-2014. We just returned home from Phoenix AZ and are back at work and serving now at the Provo Missionary Training Center. We love it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I recognize first of all that I am intricately tied into the family of God. Jesus is literally my older brother and I cannot progress without him and his atonement. Everything that I love means more because I know where I came from, who I am and where I am going. I have eternal goals and have purpose in everything I do. I know that miracles have not ceased, that the lives of my family are of importance to God and that the power of God was truly restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and is in place with great power on the earth today. I know and love the Book of Mormon. It speaks to my heart. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want all of us to return to them with honor. I smile every time I recognize the great gifts of God...so I smile all the time!

How I live my faith

I have grown up serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in my community. I know that it "takes a village to raise a child" and love to be a part of that. I have taught children from age 18 months to 18 years. I have served in the women's organization in the Church for many years as well. I have been a scout leader and committee member for years and years and love the Boy Scout program. I have helped in our neighborhood organization to improve communications and develop a sense of pride and belonging. My life is better; more full because of knowing and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I find great joy in serving my family, my community and currently more LDS missionaries, and with them, my Lord.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Cheryl Taylor
I like to think that sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ is like sharing a smile. When we are happy, we smile to others to show them we are happy and to encourage them to smile as well...we want them to feel happy too. This is one reason that we share the Gospel through missionary service. We know that following Jesus Christ brings great joy into our lives, and thus we want to share it with all of God's children...the rest of the world. It is not a power thing, it is a LOVE thing. We want everyone to have the invitation to join with us in knowing the joy and peace that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ brings; restored to the earth with the priesthood authority of God.
