Hi I'm Ricki

I'm my kids' mom and my husband's girlfriend. I'm a childbirth and women's health enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a typical American family: married, divorced, repeat. So I was mostly raised by my aunt and uncle. I have many moms, dads, brothers, and sisters. And somehow it all works out now. I was home schooled from 4th grade to college, graduated from BYU with a degree in Special Education Teaching, married young (20!), taught middle school, retired very early to be a stay-at-home-mom to my first baby, and now have three children. I understand and appreciate the importance of having an intact family unit and try hard to do my part to keep it that way. It's a huge blessing to be home with my kids full-time and make our home a safe, fun, creative, peaceful place. Homemaking is currently my favorite hobby. I enjoy baking and cooking healthy foods, I also enjoy baking and cooking good foods. I like to sew, re-purpose old things, decorate, clean, and organize. I'm a childbirth junkie. I love to carry and deliver my babies naturally with the support of a midwife. Bearing my children the way I feel safest and most comfortable gives me a sense of power, gratitude, satisfaction, and confidence.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the missionary lessons and was baptized at age 9, so I've pretty much grown up in the church. But I remember how I felt when I was first learned about the church, I knew what I was learning was true. I always knew I had a Heavenly Father and that Jesus loved me. The Book of Mormon made sense because of how I felt when I read it and I don't believe it could have come about any other way than through ancient prophets writing it and a modern prophet translating it. It made sense to have a prophet today. It made sense that we would continue on as families after we die. I knew it was true then and I feel peace now when I pray to know if these things are true. When I keep the commandments, pray, study the scriptures, and serve others I feel my Savior's love and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving and serving my family and others. I have loved every church assignment I've been given, but my favorite is teaching music to the children. I think kids can feel the Spirit and love of God so strongly through music. When you sing and hear gospel principles through sweet tunes and lyrics, you can feel the truth.
