Hi I'm Julia

I was born in the Midwest, grew up in South America, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mother of 4; I am a lawyer by profession, and I love my children and my own mom! I love to read the classics and tell my children all the time that the purpose of this life, and all we do as Christians, is to help us become good people that someday can live in the presence of God, with their families, and experience a life of peace and love.

Why I am a Mormon

I had been taught from an early age to believe there is a God, and he had a son, Jesus Christ, who was the Savior of mankind from their sins. But I had questions....I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood outside of Chicago. I wondered why Christian churches were so different from Judaism if Christ was a Hebrew. I also wondered why there were so many different churches on this earth, and if Christ had established a church, where was it. I also wondered a lot about whether I had existed before I was born on this earth. But more than anything else, I wanted to know why I was here on this earth; I felt I had a great purpose, aside from getting an education, getting married, buying a house in the suburbs, and having 2.5 children and a dog! I wondered what I was supposed to be doing while I was here on this earth.....My mom had the same quesitons and would drag us to every church around she could find; she was searching for the true church and kept on saying there must be a true church on this earth. A close family friend got baptized in the "Mormon Church." After his baptism, which my mom attended, she invited the missionaries to our house, and they began to preach the gospel to us. They spoke of prophets and apostles still existing on this earth, just as they had existed in the time of Jesus. They taught that the Book of Mormon was important as a second testament of Christ, and that its purpose was to testify that Christ existed and lived and taught on this earth. They taught us that this life was one in which we were left alone so that we could learn to be good on our own, but we were given scriptures and the church, and the priesthood to guide us and warn us and help us. They confirmed my belief that the purpose of all human life is for all of us to learn to become good people that someday can dwell eternally with God, in a place where there is no evil or fear. When I heard their teachings, I felt the Holy Ghost testify that what they were saying was true.

How I live my faith

Christ, through the church, has taught me that I must love and help all of his children, whether they are members of his Church or not. Every day I strive to live like a Christian, showing kindness and friendship to all those with which I come in contact, and especially to those who are in need, whether they are LDS or not. As a member of the church, I have been given responsibilities to teach the gospel to the youth in our church. I take these responsibilities very seriously and have always worked very hard to do the best I can when teaching the gospel the gospel to them. I also take very seriously my responsibility to teach my children to be good people, not only by word but in deed. I try to teach them to love all good christian principles that are contained in the United States Constitution, and to live uprightly and honestly.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I do believe there is a prophet today here on earth, who has the same relationship with God that Moses did. Prophets are called to reveal God's word to his people so that they can be warned and guided and that does not change just because it is the 21st Century! In fact, as the world becomes more complex, I believe it becomes even more important to have a prophet to give us God's guidance and direction. The purpose of this life is to become good and to do good; there are so many voices that call to us every day to go in a different path than the one God has set out for us. Today more than ever, there is a need for a prophet. And the prophet right now, Thomas Monson, is as good and righteous man as all the prophets of old, and does speak with God! Show more Show less
