Hi I'm Gilbert Paul

I grew up in Germany. I am a husband and proud father of three. I am a marketing professional and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Germany. Growing up, I tried to spend as much time as possible snowboarding and that was pretty much my world. Then I graduated from high-school and decided to serve a full time mission for the church and was called to Western Siberia. I still cherish those two years as some of the best of my life, but I certainly had my fill of snow to last me a life time. Now I seek out warmer climates if possible and enjoyed living with my family in SoCal for a number of years where I really enjoyed surfing and life at the beach. That was before I decided to get an MBA and intern with a large IT company. I now live in the Pacific North West, get to do marketing for a worldwide recognized product, travel the world and enjoy meeting very smart and interesting people. However, most of all I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife and three children who mean the world to me and without whom everything else would be meaningless.

Why I am a Mormon

I belief that life has a purpose and that humanity is not just here by chance. I belief that I am literally a child of God, the creator of the universe and this earth, and that he cares for and loves me and wants for me to live like him. This conviction is at the core of why I am a Mormon. Having this knowledge of my eternal, even divine, potential and purpose makes all the difference in my life. My conviction continues to grow as I get older, get to raise children of my own and get to experience the love that a parent has for his children. As I thinking about life (not just my own, but that of each member of humanity) I can't help but feel a reassuring sense, a quite whisper or peaceful feeling, that we are all indeed God's children with a great divine potential that will reach far beyond this mortal life.

How I live my faith

As much as I love having fun and enjoying the "finer things in life" I don't dedicate my life to the pursuit of pleasure and wealth. I work in a very competitive company in a very competitive industries. It seems that the general mentality is that one needs to win and the other needs to fail in order for the one to be satisfied and successful. Although, I try to do the best I can to do my job well every day, I define success in my life as being a good husband and dad and being kind, honest, and fair to the people I work. I try to not get so bogged down by the daily stress of life, but to keep a broader perspective that helps me see challenges in a different light and help me keep a positive outlook on life. I try to focus more on how I treat other people to make them happy rather than on getting ahead of them.
