Hi I'm Racheal

I love cookies, climbing trees and the great outdoors. I have a passion for biology, science and people. And... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am very happy with life. I am married to my best friend and we are expecting our first baby soon! I graduated from college last year, studying Biology and Chemistry, and I am such a nerd for it! I love the human body and how perfectly it works. My appreciation for it has definitely grown whilst being pregnant. I am so impressed with these wonderful machines we live in. This real interest in the human body motivated me through college, with an aim at medical school. I would have loved to be a doctor, but I realized that the commitment it required, not only through medical school but afterwards as well, would deprive me of what I loved more: my family. I greatly respect those that can make it work. For me, it didn't. And I'm very happy with the choices I've made instead. Life is so good, perhaps more so when we try to recognize that daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I think this section is better titled for me as, "Why I'm a Christian". My parents are LDS and I was raised that way, but the rest of my family is "spiritual" and don't necessarily believe in a God. I've always assumed I believed in God, but there came a time when I realized that I really didn't know for myself if He existed. We're promised that if we pray and ask, we'll receive answers, so I did that. For weeks. And weeks. And I got nothing. I just wanted my own witness. It took me those many weeks to realize that I had been receiving an answer the whole time! It was such a small, tiny feeling, I easily overlooked it. I can't stress how small that feeling was. But it was a feeling that did not come from myself. I had neglected it thinking I needed something more. Until I realized that God knew what I needed more than I did, I wasn't satisfied. I am satisfied now, and am so grateful for my knowledge of my Heavenly Father. I know that his Son Jesus Christ lived for us and died for us. That's why I'm a Christian. I'm a Mormon because I feel clarity and peace when I read and study from The Book of Mormon. I have direction in my life and guidance from my Heavenly Father. This is where He wants me to be!

How I live my faith

Well, I served a mission for the Church in Botswana (in southern Africa) for 18 months and taught others about the love our Saviour has for us. Now that I'm home? I attend church every Sunday and participate in lessons every Sunday, teaching classes occasionally, and on special occasions I get to teach the little kids' Sunday School classes, which is a personal favorite, which may or may not be due to the fact that we always have snacks :). I am asked to visit with a few different women in the ward every month to check on them and build them up spiritually! I love that.
