Hi I'm Brenda

I recently married my best friend. I work as a nurse and love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lucky girl, having just married my best friend. We enjoy walks on the beach, fishing, movies, sports, and spending time with family. As a family, we make it a priority to read scriptures, say prayers, and enjoy activities together. I grew up in Washington. I work as a nurse and love people. I have been blessed with the opportunity to volunteer at church, in the community, and around the world. I have 8 nieces and nephews and work hard to be the favorite Aunt. I love to read, to travel, and to spend time with friends and family. I love the outdoors and sunshine. I also enjoy trying new foods, swimming, kayaking, and running -- and once completed a marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was raised in the Mormon church, it took me time and experience to really believe what I'd been taught. I was depressed and angry as a youth and blamed God for allowing good people to suffer bad things. I was in college when I accepted that life may not seem "fair" and that for life to make sense, there had to be more than what I could see. I remembered what I learned as a child. There is a God and He is our Heavenly Father. He has a Plan for us. He loves us. He continues to teach us truth through Prophets. I know God hears my prayers and answers them. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to overcome sin and death. By accepting and following what Jesus taught, I can find peace, safety, and happiness . . . even in a world where things don't always make sense. I know it may sound way too simple, but I am happy as I try to live what the Church teaches. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy!

How I live my faith

Jesus taught that we must love God and also love our neighbor. I think one way to show our love for God is to serve our neighbors. Neighbors include everyone! I have been blessed with opportunities to serve in many different capacities. As a nurse, I have volunteered in community events and have been lucky enough to travel throughout the world volunteering with international groups to help children. At church, I have been privileged enough to teach teenagers BEFORE school each day. We studied the Old and New Testament and the Book of Mormon. I love and admire today's teenagers! I have also been able to help youth at church learn basic first aid and provided first aid at summer camps.
