Hi I'm Micki

I am a wife, mother, and Cub Scout Leader. I look forward to being with my family forever. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to an amazing man who works hard to provide for our family - both spiritually and temporally. We have 4 kids - 3 'tweens and a preschooler. We are both serving in our ward as Boy Scout Leaders - my husband as a Scout Master, me as a Webelos Leader. We love the opportunity to work with the boys and to prepare them to become honorable men - leaders in their communities, faithful church leaders and missionaries, loving and respectful husbands and fathers. We try to live and teach all of our children principles taught by the Boy Scouts and supported by the church, to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. We enjoy doing lots of things together as a family! We like to travel, go camping, play games, watch movies, attend sporting events, cooking and baking, gardening, hanging out at the pool, helping other people... and trying new things!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I am a daughter of God, he knows me, he loves me and he wants me to be happy. By living the commandments and principles set forth in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and through modern-day revelation, I can find true happiness and joy. My family means everything to me, and because of the sealing ordinance (being married in the temple) we can aspire to being together forever - not just "till death do we part." I can think of nothing that would bring me more joy than to be with my favorite people forever! The community within the LDS Church is amazing! There is a strong network through that helps to make sure that families are provided for both spiritually and physically. The Relief Society - the women's organization - provides opportunities to learn, serve, share, grow, to develop a relationship with God, to develop lifelong friendships and a support system that can be counted on if it is ever needed (wether you know you need it or not!) The youth organizations provides amazing opportunities for the teenagers and children to learn about Christ, experience leadership roles, socialize in a safe and moral environment, to have friends that know and live the same high standards. It provides strong and faithful leaders to teach and mentor the youth, and bountiful resources to help them navigate the challenges they face everyday.

How I live my faith

We work hard to live the principles taught by the Church. Are we perfect? NO!!!! But we are trying to be better! We attend church nearly every week, we pray as a family over most of our meals, we have family prayer and scripture study almost every night, we try to have a weekly family night (referred to in the church as "Family Home Evening) where we discuss important things as a family, learn about Jesus Christ and his teachings, sing songs, play games and have dessert! In the Mormon Church we are asked to serve in many different ways - I am very lucky because I have 2 great jobs right now! The Church supports the Boy Scouts of America and charters Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout troops - and I have been asked to work with the Cub Scouts in our ward - I get to hang out with the 10 year old boys each week and explore, learn, create and have fun! It is so fun and so awesome! I am blessed to get to teach and be taught by these boys. My other job is even more awesome! I am an assistant to the Girls Camp Director... which means that I work with two other women and we coordinate and plan a week-long summer camp for all the 12-18 year old girls in our area. Approximately 130 teenage girls, 1 week, no cell phones, no i-pods, no facebook, no boys, no showers. It is AMAZING! I am so blessed to be able to be around so many girls with high moral standards, a desire to serve each other and their Savior, and faith and testimonies that give me so much hope for the future! I honor and appreciate my opportunity to serve in both of these capacities... they can be very challenging and demand a lot of time and energy, but me and my family have been so blessed because of them!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Just as in times of old, the world needs the guidance of God. After the Savior was crucified was a very dark time in the history of the world. We have again been blessed with a living prophet who guides and directs the church - much like the prophets in the Old Testament. It is hard for me to understand why people think that there couldn't be a prophet today... God loves us and wants us to learn of him, to love as he loves, and to return to him. We are blessed to live in a time with a living prophet on the earth today. He provides us guidance and hope, and share with us the love and teachings that can help keep us safe in these challenging times. Show more Show less
