Hi I'm Jilise

I'm a sister. I'm a belly dancer. I'm a planner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always been very independent. I love to learn and go to school. I enjoy dancing, rockin out to music in my car, reading, facebooking :) ice-blocking, watching movies, stargazing, scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends. I'm applying for college next semester and I cant wait to buy new paper and pencils. I like new school supplies and I love the smell of a new book!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS church but as a teenager I decided to take my own path. I started hanging out with people that had different values than I did. I was at a stage in my life where I was angry with the changes that were going on around me. My new direction in life led me to substance abuse and an abusive relationship. I stopped attending church and having faith in the Lord. I spent 4 years in a dark, depressing place and I struggled to find my way out. It wasn't until I hit rock bottom and was humbled that I was able to seek help. My family and my brothers and sisters from church gave me support even after they found out all the mistakes I had made. They truly wanted to see me succeed. I have experienced the atonement in my life and my testimony was able to grow because of it. I dont know what I would do without the foundation of the gospel in my life. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and each and every one of us on a personal level.

How I live my faith

I attend the Singles Ward at the Institute building on campus. The Institute offers gospel study classes 5 days of the week. I'm able to be around people that set a good example for me and have a positive outlook on life. I've only been in this new town for a month and I've already made tons of new friends by being active in the Singles Ward. I get the opportunity to go to the family home evening groups and the friday night activities. I also attend the weekly country swing dances in the area. I was inactive for 4 years so now that I've been able to attend church regularly for the past couple months I've been able to see the positive changes in my life. I've never read the Book of Mormon cover to cover in my life so its become my new goal to study the scriptures daily and have a better understanding of the principals it teaches us and the tender mercies of the Lord.
