Hi I'm Seth

I'm a husband, a father, and a research chemist studying air quality. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The most important things in my life are my wonderful wife and our children. My principal hobby is spending time with them. It seems like in our society more and more people focus on pursuing individual goals: career, hobbies, travel, etc. I am so grateful for our church's teaching that family comes first. The joy I experience just being with my family is more important to me than anything else. We love to garden together in the limited space we have, and we love learning old fashioned food preservation techniques like making sauerkraut and cheese. I work as a researcher studying environmental science and atmospheric chemistry. I wish I could stay home all day and just work and play with my family, but since I have to have a job, this one is pretty good. It is creative, interesting, and sometimes challenging.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. When I was 13 I decided I needed to know whether God and Christ live. I walked out into the hills beyond our home and prayed sincerely. I remember praying for a long time, and then I felt a feeling of peace and love that completely overwhelmed me. I have experienced plenty of problems, mistakes, and doubts, but as often as I have turned to God and asked for his help, in sincerity and humility, he has spoken to me. I love this Church because it is His, and I get closer to Him and Jesus Christ by living within it.

How I live my faith

In addition to playing and working together, our family reads scriptures together and prays together. The most precious time of our week is Monday evening, when we talk together about our religion, play games and have treats. In our church we call this Family Home Evening. The world we live in is rapidly changing, but my hope is that in our home, through our faith in Christ, we will be able to provide a sanctuary where our children can feel safe, happy, and accepted. We believe that our family can be together even beyond death, and that in our family is where we can be the most happy, so we value our family above everything else. It feels so good to be home and to know that we all love each other.
