Hi I'm Mercedes

I'm a singer and a performer. I'm the youngest of seven kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of seven kids, and an aunt to six. I love the arts, I sing, play piano, and draw. I take and teach private voice lessons. I go to a preforming arts school for Musical Theater. I am a Laurel at church. I go to early morning Seminary, which can be trying at times, but I know it's worth it because it gives me a good start to every single day. And being in high school, seminary really helps because it gives me strength and courage to get through the rough days. I've been born & raised in the church, I couldn't imagine my life with out it. I know that without this church my life would be very different, and I am very thankful for the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member my entire life, I could say I have it easy because I've never needed to live life without the gospel, because everything I do revolves around the standards and teachings of the Church. The more I've learned about the atonement of Christ and what he did for us, the more grateful I've become for everything I have, and the sacrifice He made. I believe in this gospel, I know that Christ did walk the earth and bear witness of God the Eternal Father and that He is His Son. I know that Joseph Smith, even as a 14 year old boy, had a vision and saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and that he translated the Book of Mormon so that we could have it today. I know that the Holy Ghost testifies to every person worthy of its guidance, the truth of all things, I know that to be true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a man of God, our prophet, and that he has 12 worthy Apostles at his side. I know that I am a daughter of God, and He is my Father, and knows me personally and has a plan for me. I'm a Mormon because I want to be a Mormon. There's nothing greater out there in this world than this gospel and it's teachings, and I love it.

How I live my faith

My friends know I'm Mormon, they know my standards on dress, language, dating, and even the Word of Wisdom, and they respect me for them. They occasionally tease me or ask me redundant questions, but they understand why I live the way I do. I try to live as a follower of Christ, to look and dress appropriately, to be kind in my words, thoughts, and deeds, and to always volunteer my service. But even doing that can be hard for a blunt, sarcastic, reluctant teenage girl like me, but I do try to be an example to others. I try to avoid conversations that involve gossip about friends or family, and to not repeat what's being said. I like to think to myself, "If I'm the only Mormon this person knows, how am I portraying my faith and what we stand for?" and that usually keeps me out of trouble.
