Hi I'm Alice

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Phoenix in a family with 8 children. After High School I began my education at Brigham Young University studying Electrical Engineering. These educational pursuits are currently on hold as I serve as a missionary in the Modesto, California Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised LDS, but this is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because there are many, many times in my life where I have called upon the strength of Christ to carry me through troublesome times. I look back in astonishment at the things I have accomplished with the help and love of my Savior. Jesus Christ, during his life, experienced the weaknesses, pains, losses, and consequences of my sins. That means that he has fought my anxiety, felt the bitter pains of losses or fears I currently feel, and overcome the effects of the mistakes I make as a growing daughter of God. I love him for this. I can have peace knowing that what is unfair or difficult in my life and in the world is made up through his infinite sacrifice. Through this, I can not only be healed, but enabled to rise to my potential as one who can love perfectly and live perfectly one day.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary serving in Modesto, California. I live my faith with a desire to always be increasing in my knowledge and understanding of who I am and who my Heavenly Father is. Over time I have come to recognize that this is only possible when I understand the role of Jesus Christ and his Atonement in my personal learning and growth. God sent me here to learn and become like him, and this is my eternal pursuit.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith is built upon action. God gives us commandments and always promises blessings if we obey them. When we obey commandments and expect the blessings to come, we are demonstrating faith. As a college student, I was not financially prepared to take on the expenses of a certain semester. At one point, I didn't have the funds to support myself for the last month of the semester. After looking at what money I did have, I remembered that I hadn't paid my tithing. The commandment of tithing asks us to pay ten percent of our income to the Lord, and the blessing is that we will be supported in all that we need; in fact, we are promised that the blessings will be so great that we will not be able to receive them all. I looked at that promise, and followed by paying my tithing. Following this choice, I received funds from three distinct, unexpected sources and I was truly blessed so exceedingly that I had no room to receive it. Faith is built upon deciding which commandments and blessings we don't yet believe are truly given by the Lord. When we follow by acting in accordance with these commandments, we are blessed with an increase in Faith. Show more Show less
