Hi I'm Jane

I'm a Texan. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Texas and a Cajun so my life tends to be pretty spicy! I am a mother of three and a kindergarten teacher so I am an expert in patience! We keep fairly busy with baseball games and mountain biking. I live for reading a great book, sewing, woodworking, or just laughing and having a good time with my family. I was also the leader of an intense Harry Potter book club and a Star Wars Fan-girl for life! If it is random and unique, I am there because that is who I am, random and unique.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church and my story is one of perseverance. I was at a park with my boyfriend and we saw two Mormon missionaries riding by on bikes. I was not eager to talk to them and silently wished they would ride on by. I had no sooner had the though than they turned around and came straight for me! I then thought I was still safe because my boyfriend was a Mormon. No such luck! He was silent the whole time and when I asked why he just shrugged and asked me when I was going to read the Book of Mormon the missionaries gave me. I read it that night and it felt like I was reading letters from home. From that moment on I was dedicated to finding out more about this church. After some time, I had still not committed to joining the church and was really committed to sitting on the fence. I was living in an apartment at the time and home alone one evening. I heard a knoch at the door and tiptoed to see who it might be. It was missionaries and I was again not eager to talk to them. As I was sneaking away and pretending not to be home something amazing happened. I had a feeling. A feeling that I should turn around and that it was time. I turned around and opened the door. A year later I was baptized and it was the best thing I ever did. My life changed for the better in so many ways and I had meaning and purpose. The Lord knew I was ready to hear his message and wouldn't let the missionaries let me go! I am a Mormon because my heart and my life tells me it is right.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by visiting with women in the church and giving assistance when it is needed or just sharing a good time together. I have helped in many ways in the church where I taught the little ones in Sunday school or conducted music. I live my faith each day by saying my prayers, reading scriptures with my children, and looking for ways to serve others.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I have always had a belief in my Heavenly Father. This belief was further proven at my stepmother's funeral. She had stage four ovarian cancer and didn't survive. At her funeral, I was standing by a garden and through my tears I saw a little white butterfly. I thought it was so beautiful and strange in the middle of this sadness. A few months had gone by and I was driving home from work and thinking of my step-mom. I was missing her a lot and as I looked to the car in front of me there was a huge sticker on the back window that shocked me. It was a white butterfly and not only was it a butterfly it had my stepmother's name along side it. It gave me peace and I knew that she was happy and taken care of. I knew there was a loving Heavenly Father who was with her because they gave me a sign with the butterfly. Show more Show less
