Hi I'm Terrie

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Went to BYU and received my nursing degree. I'm currently a stay at home mom to 5 children.

About Me

Once a week I volunteer at my youngest child's school as a copy mom in the resource room. I make copies of instructional reading material for the teachers. I've loved doing this because when I'm at the school and if there is a problem with any of my kids the teachers would feel comfortable in discussing their needs or triumphs with me. I love to hand quilt. When I was growing up my mother always had a quilt on and was doing quilting bees with the other ladies in the church. So, when my kids were young I would have a quilt on the frames and have ladies from my ward over and we would quilt and talk while our kids played together. Now that my kids are older, I'm learning the art of machine quilting- I haven't gotten the hang of it yet, but I'm learning. I also love to get on my bike and go for challenging bike rides. I helped my son get his cycling merit badge this last summer by going with him and his friends on a 50 mile bike ride across Fort Collins. I'm also taking piano lessons. This has been a life long dream of mine to be able to play the piano like my father used to. My father used to sit down at the piano and play Chopin for hours. I'm currently working on some of the pieces that he used to play.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon. I've thought a lot about that statement. I love the church, I love my membership in this church. I love the gospel. I love reading the Book of Mormon. Many times I have read it and felt my Saviors love for me and my family. I love the part in 3 Nephi when the Savior comes to the Americas and blesses the children, this is my favorite part. I sometimes wish that I was there when he did that. But I have felt many times in my life the comforting arms of my Heavenly Father around me and the feeling that he loves me and is watching over me. He has answered my prayers many times -some in pleads for the safety in my children and husband, some are for my own well being. Many times he has been near me and helped me in taking care of girls camp. I was the director of a girls camp and I have felt Heavenly Fathers guiding hand in directing, and helping with each of the girls, from their tent assignments to their activities, and in helping them become closer to their Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ Lives and that he is watching over us. He loves us and wants only the best for us. I know that this is a simple testimony, but I know that Jesus lives and that this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, that he established our Lords church on this earth at this time. I know that God continues to control the happenings of this church here on earth at this time. He hasn't left us alone, he is with us if we ask for his help daily.

How I live my faith

I'm currently working with the four year olds in primary. Here I teach them about Jesus and his dealings when he was on earth. Some of them are really wild, but if I put my arm around them and love them, they calm down and listen. Today we were talking on how we can pray to our Heavenly Father about our concerns and how he will listen to us. I'm also a Visiting Teacher. I visit 4 ladies- all vary in age and needs. I try to help them with what I can. I deliver a monthly message with them and leave with the promise that if they need anything, I'm there to help them. So allow me to help, some don't, but I'm always available for them if they need me.
