Hi I'm April Garner

I love to read, study and learn. I'm a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four sisters and four brothers and wonderful parents.  I've lived in Mexico, the US, and Canada. I love to read. I enjoy walking and hiking, cooking, and gardening. I have been trying to finish my degree in English Literature for nine years. I worked teaching Special Ed kids for seven years, but recently changed careers and now work in a law office. I have four wonderful children, a husband who I adore, (we just had our 24th anniversary) and I'm going to be a grandma in March!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, with pioneer ancestry on both sides. But I continue to be a member because when I was 14 I asked God if He was real, and I recieved a feeling of such love and comfort that I have never been able to deny it. Through the years I have received many more such answers to prayer, and I have learned that what my ancestors have sacrificed for is true. I want to be able to pass on that heritage of faith to my children and my children's children. While we have had many blessings in our lives, we have also stuggled greatly as a family; particularly financially. Though things are better now, it has been hard at times, and sometimes I have given in to despair and hopelessness. But when things have been at their worst I have hit my knees and I have been given that same feeling of love and comfort, and I know that my Heavenly Father knows me, and my needs, and that if I trust him that things will work out for my good. And they always have! I have a testimony of the infinate reality and capability of Jesus Christ's atonement, and its capacity to help us in every aspect of our lives; both for our sins and for the struggles that we all go through. Those struggles are there to help us to grow closer to Him and more like Him.

How I live my faith

I love to teach and currently have the opportunity to teach in our Church's womens group. I've had the chance in the past to volunteer at the schools, to teach the summer reading program at the community library, and to teach the special needs students for seven years. The Church has given me great opportunities to develop and share my talents in the Church and in the community.
