Hi I'm Jana

I grew up in Idaho. I love spending time outside with my friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest in my family, and I have four amazing siblings. I love doing things outdoors, such as hiking, running, going on walks, water skiing, and playing soccer. I also love reading. When I get into a good book, it takes serious self-control for me to pull myself away. :) I received my Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders, and I am now pursuing my Master's degree in Organizational and Professional Communication with an emphasis in Alternative Dispute Resolution. My goal is to better equip myself with skills that I can use to help and serve those that I come into contact, both in my professional and everyday life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it brings me happiness and a sense of peace in a difficult and changing world. I have always been a Mormon, and I was always taught the LDS (Latter-day Saint) teachings in my home. However, I had to decide for myself whether or not to believe and live those teachings. I decided the best way to figure out whether or not it was all true, was to live the teachings. So I did. I found that although it isn't always easy, living the teachings of Jesus Christ is truly the thing that brings me the most happiness. The "Mormon" church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It truly is led by Jesus Christ. He lives as a resurrected being, and He guides His church through a prophet, just like He did in the biblical times. Jesus Christ, Jehovah, spoke to and led His prophets in the Old Testament, and after His life and death in the New Testament, He continued guiding His church through the Apostles. I know that the Bible is the word of God, and that it is the written record of God's children in the eastern hemisphere. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is a record of God's dealings with His children in the Americas. Any person who sincerely wants to know of the truth of these things, can know for oneself. Study, and then pray and ask God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a little more Christ-like today than I was yesterday. I also look for opportunities to serve, in my community, as well as among other Mormons. I sometimes play the piano in church meetings, and I also visit several women from my congregation each month to see how they are doing and if there's anything I can do to help them. I strive to be honest and to treat others with kindness and respect. I also avoid swearing or using the Lord's name in vain. I also try to take care of my body physically, by exercising, and by not eating or drinking things that could be addictive. In short, I just try to act like Jesus Christ would. I recognize that I would be nothing without His, and my loving Heavenly Father's, help and guidance.
