Hi I'm Elder Stephen Smith

Haole by birth, Polynesian by choice, I love to sing and play the ukulele. I'm a missionary, #4 out of 9 kids and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi, I'm Elder Smith I am 19 years old and am so happy to be serving a mission for my Savior Jesus Christ and for his church! I am currently serving in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission and have been out in the field for 13 months :) I still love to serve and help everyone I can, but I love to talk to everyone I meet on these beautiful islands about the love I have for my Savior, and also the love he has for all his children. I love to sing and work. Work has become one of my life lines :) I always have to have something to do whether it is studying my scriptures of tracting or something! I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I know that it can help every single person on this planet! More than anything I want the gospel to touch the people around me. Coming to the islands I have found a love for the people of Polynesia and also the culture. I love to play the ukulele and interact with so many different kinds of people. I have a strong testimony of the Atonement of OUR Savior Jesus Christ and I know that He did what He did so that I can return to live with our families for ever and ever.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because, I know with my whole soul that the authority from God to administer in the essential ordinances for our salvation, is found in this church. I know that because I have taken the challenge from a prophet of old to read, ponder and pray to find out for myself that the Book of Mormon, a testament of Jesus Christ, is the word of God. Heavenly Father HAS answered my prayers. He is real! He Lives! and through His guidance and direction I have chosen to to be a member of this church.

How I live my faith

currnetly I live my faith through serving a mission and showing by word and deed how much I appreciate what OUR Savior has done for you and I. I get up and read scriptures, I get to share with the people of Hawai'i the Gospel of Jesus Christ every day. I live my faith by trying to be the most obedient to the commandments as much as I can and I try to bear my testimony to everyone I get to meet.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Elder Stephen Smith
I believe that God has always chosen prophets to "dispense" his gospel to the world. It is through their instruction and revelation that we can live and be the happiest. Because I know that Heavenly Father wants ALL of his children to be happy I know that God will always send prophets. BUT there is really only one way to know if anything is really true. That is doing as the Savior Himself invited us to do in John chapter 7 verse 17 "if any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of it myself." The easiest way that I have come to believe that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God or any of the previous prophets really were prophets. IS TO TRY WHAT THEY SAY! I have found that as I follow the counsel of God's chosen mouthpiece I am happier and have the privilege of avoiding many of the regrets and pitfalls of life nowadays. Show more Show less
