Hi I'm Heather

I'm a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. I love learning, singing, and being with people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California with my brother and sister and still miss the cool, wet breeze I grew to love. I married my High School sweetheart and we both got our Bachelor degree from Brigham Young University. Sometimes it feels like we're just "starting" our family as we settle here in Arizona after being married 7 years. The permanence and security is exciting for me though, especially after years of temporary apartments and graduate schooling - including a two year stay in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York! I'll always be grateful for that amazing adventure and the friends I made there. I have two kiddos - a 6 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. They bring me a lot of joy! I love cuddles, reading books, explaining how the world works, and learning even more from their pure hearts. It seems I am constantly working on being more organized and learning to enjoy cooking more. I have a LOT of room to grow, but I do really love the fact that I get to be a mom. When I do have the extra time and energy, I love to sing (I sing in a community choir once a week), read good books (I still love Harry Potter), learn (books, internet, anything!), be with friends and family, and work on making my home a more beautiful place to be. I have fun going out with friends and talking to my sister and mom on the phone. I really need social activity to stay sane as a stay at home mom!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught us the Gospel from the beginning and it always rang true to me. I know that we had a happy family because we lived the principles of the Gospel and loved each other. A major defining moment for me was when I decided, at 8 years old, that I wanted to read The Book of Mormon myself. With my dad's encouragement, I planned out how I would read a certain amount of pages per day. The first night I remember bringing my Book of Mormon up to my room and laying on my rainbow sparkly bedspread. I began reading and I felt a warmth and tingles that went throughout my whole body like I had never felt before. I knew that what I was reading was true and good. And I knew it for myself. Since then I have continued to feel and know through different experiences that the Book of Mormon is true. That book has changed me for the better. I know that God lives and loves us. He is my Father in Heaven. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I have felt His Atonement and His Love. I know that God has sent living prophets so that we may know His will for us today. This Gospel is true, and I know it with my whole soul.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday our family goes to church and we have certain responsibilities there. I play the piano for one group, and my husband helps teach lessons to another. Our kids love going to church, being with friends, and learning more about the Gospel. But living our faith means a lot more to us than going to church on Sunday. It really is a way of life for us and helps us to be a better family every day. We pray and read scriptures personally and as a family every day - or at least we try to. :) Every Monday we try to have Family Night, where we spend good quality time together and learn and teach the Gospel together. Gospel principles of faith, love, hope, patience, virtue, repentance, joy - these all come into play on a daily basis. My faith is precious to me and brings light to my life every day of the week.
