Hi I'm Becky

I'm thankful for my life, my friends, my 4 beautiful children, my wonderful husband and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 46 years old, am married with 4 kids and 1 grandchild. I joined the church when I was 22 years old. I love to read, do any type of exercise, be outdoors, do geneology, and I love to eat. I took many years of college but never graduated as I ended up putting my husband through college and graduate school. I love being a mom. It gives me purpose. I don't think I'm a great mom, but I do try and do my best every day. I love being married and our love grows stronger everyday. We have moved around a lot in our 22 years of marriage and I have enjoyed every place we've lived and have loved getting to know the people in each area. We have met great people who will be our friends forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in a strong catholic home where I was taught about Jesus and I had very good examples in my mother and father. When I got into my late teens no longer living at home, I had some questions about my faith and about my mission in life, like who I was, and where do I go after this life. I wasn't living the life that I knew I should be but it seemed that my faith wasn't strong enough to get me through or enough to make me want to change. I needed more and wanted to find out more. I met some mormons who were always nice to me and were always so knowledgeable about their own religion and I wanted to be that way with my own religion but wasn't. I took some classes in the catholic religion at that time that I thought could help me be as knowledgeable in catholicism as mormons were with their religion. What I found out was that there were some basics of the catholic religion that I was not comfortable with or didn't believe in. Example would be the trinity. I do not believe that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. I believe that they are 3 distinct beings. This was just one example. I decided to take the mormon missionary discussions and I loved what they taught. Everything just made sense. I know that I had a strong foundation in growing up catholic, in a wonderful home with great parents and siblings who taught me lots about our Saviour and what he has done or us. I feel like I took one step forward by joining the mormon (LDS) church and added so much more to my life. I have never regretted it although at the beginning it was terribly difficult as I really hurt my family. And of course when you love your family as much as I love mine, it's hard to see them hurting over something you caused.

How I live my faith

I love going to church each Sunday. As I mentioned earlier, we have lived in lots of different places and everywhere we've gone, we have felt like we have always had a family in the church. I have participated in many ways in our church. I have been a leader of the young women age 12-18. They are such an inspiration and great examples for me. I think that was my favorite calling I have had in the church. I presently teach 10-12 year olds who also add great pleasure to my life. I love being a visiting teacher where we are able to meet different ladies 1 on 1 and share a gospel message and let them know that we are here for them if they ever need anything. I love all of the service opportunities that our church is involved with. One of my favorites has always been the food drive where we collect food for the food bank in our area. I think when we serve one another we are serving the Lord. We are his hands and I feel truly blessed to be able to serve wherever and whenever I am needed. I am also looking forward to serving a mission with my husband someday. It will be so great to go and spread the gospel to people who have never heard about Jesus. I am also very grateful to be married to a returned missionary who respects me and loves me for who I am. With all of my baggage that I came with, he loves and honors me and I couldn't be more blessed to have him in my life. As a family, we try to read the scriptures daily and pray together. Sometimes it's hard, I'm not gonna lie, but it truly makes our day go better when we do these things. Family Home Evening on Monday night is another big one. We meet together as a family and try to have a gospel message and then play some kind of games, have treats, fun stuff. Also, another thing we're not perfect at, but we try to do our best.
