Hi I'm Danny Dorr

I'm an avid mountain biker and runner. I would name our next child "Moab" if my wife allowed it. I'm a mormon

About Me

I am a Dad of 4 incredibly special kids. I am married to a woman who simply inspires me by seeking and pointing out the best in everyone and everything. Her optimism and zeal for life are contagious. Did I mention she's also drop dead gorgeous? I am a mountain biker, runner and sports enthusiast. I am a die hard Cubs fan, a ravid BYU fan, and a loyal Phoenix Suns fan. I served a Church mission in Romania and think about my friends and experiences there every day. I am a former scout master, personal trainer and high school sprinter. I enjoy running the sedona 5k every year but am on a quest to qualify for the Boston Marathon when I run the Phoenix Marathon in Feb of 2015. Above sports, running or biking, spending time with my family makes me happiest--and it's not even close. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I don't want to think about how different my life could be without the guidance of my Church. I am a member of this Church because it helps me feel closer to my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amidst an awfully confusing world filled with conflicting standards and voices, my Church and its teachings provide a rock for me and my growing family. I have prayerfully studied the Church's doctrines and have personally had overwhelming affirmations of its truthfulness. I have had countless special experiences throughout my life which have left me without doubt that my membership in this Church is God's will for me and my family. Most are too specail to share. I remember one October night as a teenager I was feeling like I was at a point in my life where I wanted to more fully commit myself to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its teachings. I wanted to follow my Savior and I wanted to be absolutely sure that I was following the correct path, not only for me, but for my future familly. As I knelt near my bed, I specifically asked the Lord in faith to confirm my belief that this was His Church. About 30 seconds into my prayer I had such an overwhelming affirmation in my heart that I remember pausing and kneeling in a silent gratitude for a few minutes, knowing that my prayers had once again been answered. I don't think this type of a response to prayer is something to expect, and it came as a surprise to me, but the truth is that this one experience is not the reason for my testimony. My testimony is a culmination of special experiences, countless promptings, and long hours of study as i have sought God throughout my life.

How I live my faith

While balancing work, family, church and life in general can be difficult for all of us, I do my best serve whenever it's possible. Over the years, I've enjoyed helping many families move in or out of homes by offering a helping hand. I have been priviliged to have spent countless hours teaching young boy scouts to tie knots, make a personal fitness plan, set up a tents, and build shelters. I have really enjoyed the many campouts and campfire stories. The youth have inspired me to be a better person, and I hope in some small way I have influenced them to hold true to their standards and prepare for families of their own. My own family has been blessed by many acts of service; we hope we can follow our Savior's example by seeking out small ways to be an instrument in His hands.
