Hi I'm Kathleen

I am a social worker employed at a mental health center in rural Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree and I am an avid fan of BYU football and basketball. I have also earned a Master's degree in social work from the University of Utah. I spend time reading, traveling, and keeping up with my family. My work helping people solve their problems is very rewarding.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who left the religion in which they were raised to become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents, siblings, and I went to church every Sunday. As I grew older I wanted to know for myself if there was a God and if religion should be a part of my life. I prayed, I studied, and listened to what other people said. The answers did not come all at once but a little at a time. The first thing I learned was that Jesus was a real person who lived on the earth. I knew this because I had a burning in my heart and an intellectual understanding. Another important thing that I learned was that Joseph Smith was a prophet who saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in a vision. Over the years I have learned that all of the teachings of the Mormon Church are correct and when followed will lead to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come.

How I live my faith

When I reached the age of 21 I served an 18 month mission for the Church in New Zealand. I shared with others my beliefs. Currently, I teach the 14 and 15 years old in Sunday School. We are studying the New Testament. I play piano in the woman's organization which meets on Sunday morning. Each month I visit 3 women who belong to the Church to share a gospel message and check on their well being. I attend the temple in Denver for special worship and instructive services. I enjoy learning more about the Church by reading the scriptures and other church publications and by praying. I like to talk to other people about my beliefs.
