Hi I'm Megan Nelson

Draper Utah and Gilbert Arizona are home. I love cooking. I love to watch and play sports. I love Children. And I am a Missionary.

About Me

I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints in the Utah Salt Lake City East mission. I LOVE it! :) I was born and raised in Draper Utah. I love the seasons in Utah, especially winter and fall. I love the rain, and the snow, and the trees that change color in the fall. I find so much beauty in nature, and loved being able to grow up surrounded by the beautiful mountains. As a Junior in high school i moved to Gilbert Arizona. While there were many things i missed about Utah, I loved Arizona as well. I was able to make great friends, and enjoyed playing softball for my High School. I love watching and playing sports, and these are some of my favorite memories growing up. I especially love going to my brothers Baseball games, and playing catch. I was so Surprised when i received my call to return to Utah to Serve a full time mission, but i know that this is where the lord needs me. I am so happy with where i am in my life right now, and i am proud to be a Mormon. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, simply because i know this gospel is true. It is just logical to me. Everything around me testifies that God is real, and that he loves each and every one of us. Simply put, you can't come to know the things that i have and not be a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and most importantly, I LOVE it.

How I live my faith

While i was Born and Raised in the church, i had to work for my own testimony. My testimony has come in bits and pieces, and still continues to grow each day. My parents were divorced when i was in High school, and this was a big struggle for my siblings and I. For a long time i wasn't the best at living my faith, but in the years that followed i realized that true happiness came from living the way i know to be right. I strive to live my faith by letting my faith show. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is part of who i am, and i try to live so that others will want to come closer to Christ because they know me. My most cherished possession is my Testimony. I am most grateful for a knowledge of the restored gospel, And our Savior Jesus Christ who loves us unconditionally. My testimony is centered on the Atonement. It has come to play a key role in my life and makes me happy beyond belief. without the atonement, it would be impossible for me to live my faith. Most recently i am living my faith by serving a full time mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Having spent almost all my life in Utah, i am sure you can imagine my surprise when i learned i would be called to Serve In the Utah Salt Lake City East Mission. I have really enjoyed my first few months serving as a missionary here, and know that these 18 months will help me better live my faith through the rest of my life.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Megan Nelson
I have given a lot of thought to this question in recent months. While preparing to serve as a full time missionary i was asked the question: "Why is it necessary for Christ to have paid for my sins? Why can't i pay for my own sins?" While i knew how i felt about this I did not know how to put it into words. In my recent studies of the Book of Mormon the following verses from Alma chapter 7 put my thoughts into words. 11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. 12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities. 13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me. I love all of these verses, but my favorite is when it says that Christ did this so that he would know how to succor his people according to their infirmities. To succor means to run to. I can testify that the savior has run to me in my times of trial. Show more Show less
