Hi I'm Jess

I teach Spanish. I write about sports. I have four kids. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If you knew me, it wouldn't take long to tell that I love sports. I also love my wife and four kids. I work at a school and for a college where I teach Spanish. I write about Arizona sports and run an NFL team blog as a paying hobby. I work hard and keep busy taking care of my home and kids so my wife can get her degree. On the weekends you can find me watching college football with my buddies either at the stadium or at home when our team is on the road.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of several generations of active members of the Church. I have stayed a Mormon because while still in my youth I learned through prayer that what I had been taught all my life was true. I served a mission in Argentina so I could share what I knew with others. I teach my children what I have been taught because it has brought me great happiness in my life.

How I live my faith

I bring my family to church each week. I happily accept any responsibilities within the church. We pray as a family each day. I read the scriptures and pray. I don't drink or smoke. I don't attend sporting events on Sunday even when it is one of my favorite things to do.I dress modestly and expect the same thing of my children.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

The first way I can see it is in my children. I couldn't imagine not believing in a Heavenly Father when I see how my kids come out smart and talented and so wonderful. With as many mistakes that parents make, and kids still become normal people that can handle things, it just shows that there is more to them than just mom and dad. They have a part of God in them. If that were not the case, I would have messed them up a long time ago. I also have experienced so many things in my life that tell me that God exists and loves me. I have had prayers answered -- things that could not have been coincidence. Show more Show less
