Hi I'm John

I am an ophthalmologist, a father of four children, a grandfather of two young grandchildren, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Illinois and I went to medical school in Missouri. As an ophthalmologist, I am involved in the medical and surgical treatment of eye disease. My wife and I now live in Arizona. We have four children and two grandchildren. In recent years, we have been sent on surgical missions by our church to Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe, to train other ophthalmologist in modern eye surgery techniques. It has been a great blessing in our lives to be able to be of service in this way. We have been able to interact with many wonderful people throughout the world. It has given us a greater appreciation of other cultures and people and we have developed lasting friendships with those we have served.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a boy, I relied on my parent’s faith that the church was true. Over the years, through study, prayer and personal experiences, I have come to a knowledge for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true and restored church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the clerk for a congregation of young adults. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to interact with these young people each week at church and see the desire that they have to be of service and live in accordance to the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It gives me hope for the future to see how many of these young adults have a genuine desire to do good works in the service of others.
