Hi I'm Matthew

I am a Husband, Father, Realtor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a native of Colorado, USA. After moving to Texas, I met and married my lovely wife. We now have two very wonderful kids. I am a Realtor with a local Real Estate Company. With a strong background in construction and a passion for energy efficient building design I use my limited spare time to fit in college classes for a degree in building management. Growing up in rural Colorado instilled in me a passion for anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and basically anything you can think of that would take a person outside. I also have a love for wood and working with wood in its many forms. I have recently taken up carving.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members, so for my childhood I went to church with my family. I was 17 when my parents were going through a rough time in their marriage and with no one to encourage me to keep attending church on my own, I stopped. In the ten years that followed, I did what I wanted to and life led me to make choices that I knew to be wrong and would always regret. Something was missing and I knew it. I began to feel a void in my life. I even tried going to other churches to see if they would fill the void. I tried to change and move away from the habits that I had started and found that I couldn't do it on my own. Not even just going back to a church and doing the usual church things made what I was feeling inside better. It wasn't until I broke down and realized that I needed my savior Jesus Christ's help to overcome and repent of the things that I had allowed to take over my life that relief from my troubles came. I felt the peace that came from repentance and knew that if I was going to feel whole in this life I needed not only to go to church but to apply the principals taught there. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is where my soul finds peace each and every week and the atonement is what makes that possible. That is “Why I am a Mormon”.

How I live my faith

I simply try to live my faith as best I can, given my weaknesses. I serve in the church as a counselor for a group of men that are charged with looking out for the spiritual and physical welfare of those in our area. As father of two and a husband I try to make sure that my home is a place of learning and love where the commandments are taught. I also love to serve others whenever a service project that comes up. The look of gratitude from the service recipient is worth more than any monetary payment I could ever receive.
