Hi I'm Charles

I grew up in Kaysville Utah, I love backpacking, rock climbing, longboarding, cheerleading, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being out side. There is a big list of the things that I like to do outside like rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, snowboarding and swimming. Rock climbing and backpacking are the sports that I try to focus on the most. I have backpacked in both Yellowstone and the Tetons. I really love the beautiful meadows and waterfalls of Yellow stone and the Tetons have the most amazing peaks that are way fun to summit. Working at a Boy Scout Camp is one of the big reasons that I love to play in the outdoors. The really cool thing about working with the young men is that I would be able to see them overcome some of their fears. It may be the heights from the rock wall or the ice cold water of the lake of the woods ether way it was a huge accomplishment for them. When I was younger I had a really good friend that could do lots of flips. It really made me want to do the same. That is how I got into Cheerleading. Now my way cool hobby is paying for college. It is not just a job though; it is a great way to get to know people. I love the times that I am throwing a girl in the air or doing a sweet flip, super fun. Long boarding is not just a way for me to get a round it is a great way to have fun and hang out with friends. A lot of people that long board like to go really fast but for me I love to slide. It is way cool if you take a fast enough turn you can make the board drift in a complete 180 or even 360. It slows you down and is a challenging way to long board.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know for myself that it is true. I grew up as a Mormon both my parents are Mormons. Growing up with both parents having a faith in God helped me to have a faith in God aswell. I knew that there was a God but was not completely sure about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I was in college I came to a point in my life that I needed to know if it was right or not. I started to pray for help, I needed to know for myself that this Church was the true Church of Christ. One day as I prayed to know I asked if the Mormon Church was the Church of Jesus Christ. At that moment had an overwhelming filling come over me. It was like a wave of peace splashed all over me. I also felt really excited. At this point I knew for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was Christ Church. I know from the Holy Ghost testifying it to me that this is Christ Church and nothing will ever change that.

How I live my faith

There are a lot of things that I can do to live my faith. I think that the most important ones are reading from the scriptures both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Also praying every day, that relationship that I gain from my prayer with God helps me to know that I do have a loving heavenly father. Last would be going to church. I do not only make great friends there but also learn ways that I can improve my life. That is how I live my faith.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes we do!!! I love reading out of the Bible it is so cool. I have not been able to read the whole thing yet but I have been working hard. What I really like about the Bible is the testimonies of Jesus Christ in it. I know that the Bible is the word of God and that as we read from it we can gain a stronger testimony for are selfs in the Savior Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Every time I am outside I see things that testify that there is a God. That is why I love being outside. When I look out from a high peak I can see for miles. Within the sight of my eye I see rivers, cliffs, trees, rocks, wildflowers, lakes, birds, and great glaciers. I fill such a peace outside because I am in Gods creations. Like a bear print in the dirt tells that a bear has walked there, all these things are the tracks of God. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

How I found my answer was through prayer. The most amazing way you can find an answer to anything is having God tell you through the Holy Spirit. You cannot always trust men with the things they tell you or what they say is right or wrong. That is why prayer is so cool. You can ask your all-knowing Father in Heaven anything. If you study and go to God really wanting to know if something is true God will answer you. That is how you can know if Mormonism is true. Read from the Book of Mormon and pray to God to know if it is true. James gives us some council in the New Testament of the Bible James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…” If you have the faith you will get your answer. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been called Mormons or Mormonism for most if not all the church’s history. The nick name comes from the Book of Mormon, the Scripture that we read along with the bible. It is what separates us from other Christian denominations. It is different so that is what sticks out. That is where the name comes from. Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Baptism is super important Jesus Christ himself was baptized even though he is perfect. This example of baptism from Jesus Christ shows me the importance of baptism for myself. When you are baptized you are submitting to the will of God. At baptism we promise God that we will keep his commandments and always remember him. If we keep this promise God promises us redemption of our sins or clean from are sins. Everyone needs to make this promise. If we do not follow God why would we get a reward? Even the dead need the chance to be baptized. Would it be fair if you lived your life and never even heard the name of Jesus? Everyone will have the chance to except Jesus Christ it can be in this life or after death everyone will get the chance. If you are truly converted to Jesus Christ you would want your whole family to be part of it. Baptism is important. Show more Show less
