Hi I'm Naomi

I love nature. I'm studying to become a biologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been across the United States and one thing I love to see is the natural beauty that is all around us. I am especially interested in the various bird wildlife. Every where I go, I try to identity any and every bird I see. Not only that, I love to study and think about how nature works. I can never learn enough. I'm currently going to college and I'm enjoying it a lot. Not only what I learn, but the people I meet and the friends I've made. I found I enjoy teaching people, especially about nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because I choose to be. Everday. I just look at the Earth and how perfectly nature works and I know there has to be a master creator. That creator is God. The earth orbits just close enough to the sun to be warm but far enough as not to burn. Animals and plants thrive on the consistency of the tides falling and rising with the orbit of the moon. I'm not Mormon solely for this reason however. I'm Mormon because when I live the values of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I am happiest. The values taught are wonderful. Humility. Charity. Faith. Hope. Patience. Virtue. These things only bring happiness to my life and the lives of those around me. I continue to follow his gospel because it not only blesses me, but those I come into contact with. I choose to be Mormon because I know that God loves me. I love him enough to want to live according to the commandments He gives his children. Even though I'm not perfect, He still loves me. He love me enough to send His son, Jesus Christ to save me from my sins, my pains, my sorrows. He also loves me enough to bring me the restored gospel by his prophet, Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

First of all, I live my faith by going to church every Sunday. I love to go and feel the peaceful feelings I feel when I attend. Not only that, those in my ward are not just other Mormons to me, they are family and friends. We help each other, our community, and even just hang out together for fun. It is great to spend time with people who share the same values. We help each other live our faith. I also live my faith by my reading the scriptures as often as I can. I read them and try to better understand what is God's plan for me and how can I live to follow that plan. I also go to lds.org and read what the prophets and apostles of today have to say. I live my faith by keeping God's commandments everyday. It's not even something I always have to think about. I just do what I know is good and right. If I feel something is not going right, I look to see if what I'm doing is in accordance to the values and teachings of the gospel. I pray daily for guide and help so that I may better live my faith.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

A simple answer to this question is no. We follow the teachings of Christ and one of the parables taught by Christ is "The Good Samaritan" in Luke 10. We don't ask ourselves, "who is our neighbor?" because Christ taught us to care for all. Even if the person is from a different religion, culture, or country. Being a member of this Church has given me many opportunities to serve, inside and outside the Church. It's not about who I help, it's about following Christ's example and caring for all His children. Show more Show less
