Hi I'm Shantele

I'm a Mormon. I am a wife, mother of two, full time dance teacher and an advancement leader for the Boy Scouts of America.

About Me

I am a full time dance teacher at a local high school where I also sponsor the hip hop club and the dance team. I have been happily married to my husband for 18 years and together we have two beautiful children. Our son is 15 years old and loves science, animals and playing the piano and our 12 year old daughter loves to dance, socialize and do synchronized swimming. My loving husband is a partner in a local law firm and enjoys sports, practical jokes and watching movies. As a family, we love to travel, snowboard, hike, and attend cultural arts events.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church and have descended from a long line of pioneer history. Through this lineage, I have been blessed with good parents who taught me in my youth to know of my Savior Jesus Christ, the process of faith and repentance, baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. I have a sure knowledge that these teachings are true through my own personal experiences and the need to rely on the power of God to lift me in times of trial. I know that my Savior lives and loves each one of us. I know that we are each beloved children of our Heavenly Father and that he has surrounded us with guardian angels to help guide and protect us. I know that we are NEVER alone; we just need to recognize the help from the other side that is there for us. I rely on the Holy Spirit to constantly guide and protect me and I know that through this influence, we are each able to act as God’s hands here on earth to help others. I have a testimony that modern prophets and revelation exist today just as they did in biblical times. I know that the Book of Mormon is the revealed word of God and that this LDS organization that I belong to contains the fullness of Jesus Christ’s gospel that can provide the answers that we all need to find happiness here on earth and beyond the grave.

How I live my faith

Living as a member of this church has given me many opportunities to learn and grow physically, mentally and spiritually. Starting early in my teenage years, I was able to serve in my church as a member of my Sunday school class presidency in which we planned weekly activities for the youth and fellowshipped others in the gospel. At age 14, I was called upon to utilize my dance talents by choreographing a traveling musical show for our youth to take part in. Throughout my adult life, I have had many more opportunities to work with others in our church and community in a variety of contexts. I have served as a Sunday school teacher for children, teenagers and adults. Through this service, I have witnessed that weak things can be made strong through faith as my public speaking skills, self-confidence and ability to teach have miraculously improved. I have been able to work with the community in organizing a dance festival that was sponsored by our church that had over 2000 youth and adult participants. I served with the youth of our church for over 15 years in which I have organized activities, Sunday school lessons, girls’ camps, musicals and provided service opportunities. Although I have been called upon to serve as a leader in my church in many capacities, I have really been the true benefactor in these positions. I have felt the love, support and guiding hand of my Savior through the service of others that I have had the privilege to serve with. Through working with these amazing people I have seen that there is much good in the world today. Currently, I serve the Boy Scouts of America with our church sponsored troop in helping to track the boys’ progress towards their goals of becoming Eagle Scouts.
