Hi I'm Ben Southwick

Im a convert from another Christian faith after questions I always had were answered. I love fishing and sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Im a husband and father of four great kids. When Im not working as the Director of Finance for a large national corporation, Im working on our property raising chickens, goats, rabbits and bees. I have always enjoyed sports, both playing and watching. Im an avid fisherman and enjoy archery, shooting and camping. We have lived in several states in the west, but we are happy to be back in the Northwest.

Why I am a Mormon

I never felt right about the faith I was formally practicing and after I married my wife, we made the decision to investigate each other's church. We attended each other's meetings every other week, but when I received the discussions from the missionaries regarding the church and the beliefs they hold. I was asked to pray about it, which I did. I felt it was right, but my biggest concern was how my family would react. As it turns out, I went through the discussions several times and each time, it made more sense. I finally decided it was time to do what I knew was the right thing to do. I talked with my family and I wasn't suprised by the feelings they had regarding my decsion. My mother even asked if we believe in Jesus Christ, which was an interesting question based on the fact that we are the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My father, however, told me that if I felt it was right and it made me happy, then more power to me. That solidified it for me. I was baptised and have been a participating member ever sense. I have seen many blessings throughout my life by following the gospel and I know that my life would not be a good as it is right now if I didn't have my family and the gospel in my life. Ive faced challenges from life as well, but because of my family, Ive been able to overcome them. Im truely thankful for the blessing of being a member of this church. I testify of the truth of the Book of Mormon and the amazing teachings it provide to us. I believe with all my heart that if anyone truely reads this gospel, ponders it and prays to know of if its true, they will be rewarded with a great gift that more and more people are realizing.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in our ward meetings, attending to the callings I have and doing my home teaching. In the 14 years I have been in the Church, I have been a leader of elders, taught the youth, given lessons in Sunday School and been a scout leader for the Boy Scout and Cub Scout organizations. I also live my faith by working to following the leadership of our Church. Our leaders are called by those inspired by Heavenly Father and I have and will never turn down any calling that is given to me by the leadership. We aren't perfect, but we strive to be better all the time and it is in striving to be better that over time, we will achieve success.
