Hi I'm Jonathan

I grew up in southern California. I am a civil engineer and design power substations. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father and love spending time with my wife and kids. I love to snowboard when there's snow and golf when there's not. I enjoy all water activities even if its just floating down a river. I served a mission in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil from October 2001 to October 2003. I studied architecture before changing majors to civil engineering. I graduated in 2010 with a BS in civil engineering. I work with land development and currently design power substations.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised LDS but still had the responsibility to choose for myself if it was something I believed in and wanted to continue living. During high school I went to many different churches with my friends to see if there was one that offered me more than what I had. I didn't find anything close to what I had been used to. In December 1999, I fell asleep while driving and was in a car accident that totaled my vehicle. I should have been seriously injured but was blessed to walk away without a scratch. At that time a decided to focus more on what my Heavenly Father wanted of me to some how attempt to pay him back for all that he has blessed me with and sacrificed for me. I have read an studied the Book of Mormon. I have fasted and prayed about its truthfulness. I have received a confirmation via the Holy Ghost and am sure that it is true. By the same efforts I can say that I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the church of God and that Joseph Smith was directed by Him to restore this truth to the earth in the early 19th century. I know that God wants us to know his will and that he has established an organization led by a prophet and apostles that communicate with Him. I know that Heavenly Father sent His son, Jesus Christ, to the earth to pay for our sins and that Christ was crucified and resurrected and lives today. Because of this sacrifice, we all have the opportunity to be resurrected and live in the presence of God once again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to set a good example of a Mormon for those around me. I also live my faith by participating in service activities in the community and by serving the people around me. Within the church, I have served in the presidency of one of the men's organization as well as the presidency of the young men's (ages 12-18) organization. I have taught younger children as well as toddlers. Opportunities to serve are abundant and diverse. Every month I am able to visit a few families and share some spiritual time with them and see if they have any specific needs that I can help with.
