Hi I'm David

I cherish my role as a husband and father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of two great kids and a husband to a wonderful wife. We live in the Pacific Northwest and love the beauty of the natural environment around us although the rain is a bit much in the winter. I work for a construction materials manufacturer and travel around the western U.S., Canada and Mexico. My travels away from home are sometimes difficult and make me miss my family, but the reunions are always the best part. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats and live in the forest so they can run and have fun. I like to spend time with my family and go fun places together. I also enjoy home improvement and finish carpentry.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I made a joke the other day in church during a testimony meeting. This is a time where anyone in the congregation can get up and speak to the whole group. My friend said that "he was born in the church." I said, "Unlike my good friend who was born in the church, I was born in a hospital." Haha, aren't Mormons funny?! Kidding aside, I came to know the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ by exercising faith in Him, repenting of my sins, being baptized by immersion and then receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. We follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ who was also baptized in the river Jordan by John the Baptist. Those principles and ordinaces began my personal walk with the Savior and as I exercise faith and trust in His Reedeming grace. If I continue in faith and endure to the end, I know that I will return to live again eternally with our Father in Heaven. This is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

My faith in my Savior Jesus Christ permeates every facet of my life. He was our perfect example of how we should live, love and treat one another. I have received faith which is a gift from God to know through the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ is the son of God, the Redeemer of the world. My faith is anchored in Him and I know that he atoned for my sins and I can never repay that debt. Many of my friends who have different beliefs, know that I try to live as Christ did and that I live my religion. Although there are many different sects in the world today, I choose to focus on what brings us together which is our shared faith in Jesus Christ.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

David
The missionary and their family pay for the mission, all clothing and personal items required to serve for 18-24 months. It is a great personal sacrifice of time and money for one purpose: to go out into the world and preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, kindred, tongue and people as Jesus told his disciples to do. If the family cannot pay, then other members of the local congregation can contribute to help. No young person who has a desire to serve will be denied the opportunity due to their inability to pay their own way. My son is serving a mission in Finland and I know that the money goes out every month, but the blessings that we have been given by God have far outweighed any financial sacrifice to help the people our dear son has the privelege of meeting. What is faith?

David
The Bible defines faith as a "hope for things which are not seen, which are true." (Hebrews 11:1) I also like Ephesians 2:8- "For by grace we are saved through faith; and not of that yourselves: it is the gift of God." One can have faith that the sun will rise in the morning even when the darkeness of night prohibits the light of day from shining. But it is not enough to just have faith. We must have faith in Jesus Christ. I have received this most precious gift from God and it is that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Reedemer of the world. He has overcome the world and paid the price of sin for all mankind that will come unto him and believe that he has the authority given of the Father to satisfy the eternal demands of justice. All sins can be washed away clean in the blood of the Lamb of God. We must only have faith on Him and repent of our sins to be perfected in Christ through His grace. In the words of the Christian song "I will rise" by Chris Tomlin, "Jesus has overcome and the grave is overwhelmed. The victory is won. He is risen from the dead!" This powerful prose confirms in my heart through the Holy Spirit that Jesus is my personal Savior and I will rise to follow Him all the days of my life. Show more Show less
