Hi I'm Ryan David Remer

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Folsom, California and In Castle Rock, Colorado.

About Me

My name is Ryan. Right now, I have just barely graduated from high school. I love to rock climb and draw. I am a good student, I have gotten into BYU- Provo, I have received my eagle scout award, and I am about to go on a mission to the Philippines. I entered the MTC July 23 and will be staying here until Sept. 4ish. I am currently learning Cebuano, the Language of the island of Cebu, where I will be serving. It is called the Cebu-East Mission

Why I am a Mormon

Some people may say it was because I was born into the church, but I would not. I am a Mormon because I have found out that in this church there is answers to all the questions of the doctrine that is important to return with my heavenly father. Sometimes the answers make sense logically with a quick answer, some are stories that become more complex as life moves on and knowledge in gained. Some have the answer that is not desired. These answers have one attribute in common, the truth of the answer can be felt, in the heart, after a sincere prayer.

How I live my faith

Before my mission, I lived my faith by showing up to church every Sunday and attending seminary each school day. While in church I tried to participate in my classes and tried to find out the "why's" of the things that are taught in order to explain them to others. Now that I am on my mission, I am learning how to explain the gospel as simple as possible because I am not going to be able to say much at the Philippines. I am learning more and more each day. 3 days in the MTC and I learned how to give a lesson in Cebuano, pray, bare my testimony, introduce myself, ask about the investigator, and so much more. All of the above were basic, but to be able to do it without notes by my third day is incredible and makes me gain faith in the gift of tongues, being able to speak in different languages. I find out that when I follow the principles of the gospel my mind is able to recall the Cebuano I need, If I become lazy and choose to not follow the gospel, suddenly my mind is not able to recall the Cebuano I want.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Ryan David Remer
The church answer is correct. I would like to add that we preform these proxies in the temple, the house of the lord, and that is part of the reason that they are so sacred to us. Also why we do a lot of family history work, so that we can take the name of our ancestors to the temple so that they can receive the blessings if they so chose. Show more Show less
