Hi I'm Patrick

Husband and father. Teacher and student. Member of the armed services. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of six, being the youngest of four children. My family remained in the same home all through my youth and teenage years. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the United States Navy, and became a Hospital Corpsman. A Hospital Corpsman is the medical support team for the US Navy and US Marine Corps. This was the first time I was away from my family and my home, so it was an interesting experience for me, but a great one. Upon completion of my active duty obligation, I returned home and joined one of the local singles wards. It was here I met my true love and future wife. Today we have a beautiful daughter, are both engaged in full time employment. I am finishing up my bachelor's degree, and will hopefully be re-entering military service afterwards.

Why I am a Mormon

It took me a number of years to realize how important being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was to me. Growing up in a LDS family, it was just routine for me to attend church and live by the gospel standards. It was not until I was on active duty with the military and out on my own that I discovered just how important it was to have Christ and Heavenly Father in my life. When I did not attend church, or chose to do things contrary to church teachings, I felt empty and alone. Something was missing from my life. At this time I chose to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and find out for myself if it was true scripture. Before my active duty obligation was up, I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time in my life, and testify that is is true scripture, and that it is indeed a blessing to have it for our day. The teachings and doctrine of the church testify to me that it is the true church of Jesus Christ because it teaches only goodness and truth. I am a Mormon because I know this church and it's teachings are true.

How I live my faith

Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to be a Sunday school teacher in my ward. This has been a great experience for me, not only because I get to discuss church lessons and scripture stories with our youth, but because I have become more familiar with the scriptures myself. As I mentioned earlier, I was not too involved with the church in my youth, so many of the stories and teachings from the Bible and Book of Mormon were unfamiliar to me. Being able to prepare lessons each Sunday and have class discussions has blessed me to become more familiar with the scirptures and gain a deeper knowledge of Christ's gospel. Aside from my calling as a teacher, I have the opportunity to visit two families in our ward as a hometeacher. This has also been a blessing in my life because I am able to see how the Lord has blessed these families, and I am also able to see their faith and hear their testimonies about the Gospel.
