Hi I'm Fred

Father of 3 beautiful young women and 3 fine young men, a wife who is my eternal friend and companion, and a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy sports especially basketball, and skiing (both on water and snow). I've worked with computers for many years now; I consider that work more like play than work. I consider it a blessing to have been born into a Mormon family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have have been associated with Mormons since birth. I've personally known from an early age that God, Heavenly Father is real, that Jesus lived on earth and still lives, and the church is true. For example, though I no longer remember the sincere, devoted Primary teacher, I still remember the impressions I recieved, as she shared the story of Daniel in the lions den. I knew it was true and I wanted to be just like him (Daniel). As an elementary school boy of 11, after being let out early for Christmas break, I walked through the snow up the long hill to my home. When one of the neighbor boys, I was walking home with, stopped to slide on the ice covered blacktop of a small basketball court of another neighbor and beckoned me to join him, I received a distinct, very strong impression that I should not do so. I, thinking that this could not possibly be from God for I was only 11 year old, and also thinking it was just my fear from remembering my experience of a number of years earlier where I broke my collar bone sliding on ice, ignored the warning but hestatinly stepped onto the ice and began to slide. As I did so my leg twisted and I fell. I was in extreme pain. I spent the next 6 months in a cast. I have always remembered that impression since. As a young teenage driver of 16, as I drove up the canyon on the way to the local ski hills, I received a similar impression, strong and distinct, as I legally moved into the oncoming lane, that I should not pass the extremely slow moving vehicle in front. No sooner had I moved back in behind the vehicle ahead, than a big truck several times bigger than the car I was driving came barreling down the road. There is no doubt in my mind that the lives of the passengers and my own were spared.

How I live my faith

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a Mormon, is a unique experience. Each member has the opporunity to serve in meaningful ways from an early age. Even though it has been many, many years ago now, although vague and incomplete, I still have glimpses of singing as a 5 or 6 year old or giving a short two or three sentence talk. I have continued to have the opportunity to serve in meaningful ways.
