Hi I'm Jonathan Chartrand

I am a husband, a father of 4 wonderful children, a technology director in a fortune 500 company and I am a mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my beautiful wife for almost 15 years. Together we are the parents of 4 wonderful, active, intelligent children. I am self described nerd and love playing with any new gadget. I enjoy the outdoors, especially being in our wonderful mountains. I am a technology director for a fortune 500 company which I absolutely love as it gives me a chance to see all the latest technologies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family where both of my parents were devoted members of the church. They taught me and my siblings to love the Lord and follow his commandments through their righteous example. I believe that I had a happy childhood because my family was always united in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Growing up knowing that my parents knew that the church was true was enough for me, if they believed shouldn't I. When it was time for me to decide if I should take two years off and serve the Lord as a full time missionary I decided that It wasn't enough that my parents knew ... I had to know for myself. Growing up I had heard the story of Joseph Smith a hundred times. I had heard that when he needed know the truth that he followed the advice in the scriptures to ask God through prayer and I decide that I needed to do the same. After much meditation I kneeled down and prayed to my Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ to confirm to me the truth of the things I had been taught all of my life. I testify that God did answer my prayer, not with a spectacular vision but with the sweet whisperings of the Holy Ghost. From that moment on I had my own testimony of the gospel and felt and continue to feel responsible to live according to my Heavenly Father's wishes.

How I live my faith

The primary way that I live my faith is by always trying to follow the example of my savior by doing those things that our Heavenly Father asks us to do. This requires a significant sacrifice of my time and talents. For example we dedicate at least one night a week to be together as a family and learn about a gospel topic. I also spend a large number of hours serving in our church congregation. We spend at least one night a week at church with youth activities where I volunteer as both a father and church leader. Sundays are filled with worship services and planning and leadership meetings. The most extreme example of my church service is sleeping outside in sub-zero temperatures with the Boy Scouts. All of this seems like a lot but I have found that when I dedicate a significant portion of my time to following the example of our savior by serving my family and others I am truly happy.
