Hi I'm Terri

I'm a Mormon. I work in the field of interior design and currently enjoy designing weddings.

About Me

I am 55 years old and have been married to my husband for 36 years. I have four children and 8 grandchildren. Two of them have come to our family through adoption. They are bright, beautiful and help complete our family. My interest in art and painting led to working in the interior design field. I have enjoyed both residential and commercial projects. I love designing weddings and events. I love the challenge of making something out of things others would consider junk. I love helping people make the most important day of their life wonderful and a day to remember. Fresh flower designs and color coordinating events are part of my favorite things to do with work. Most of all I love that my girls help me. I love playing board games with my grand children. As a family we have loved spending time at the lake. It is wonderful to cheer my grandkids on as they find the courage to try fun water sports. We have a big extended family that loves to do things together. My father suddenly died when I was 26 yrs old and we have been blessed with a wonderful step father for 26 yrs now. All of the grandkids and other cousins just think he is our "real" grandpa. My husband and I have worked most of our life with our kids friends age group so the more the merrier. Currently we work with young adults ages 19 - 31. They keep us active, and young.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that were already members of the church. From an early age I found for myself that I loved going to church. I loved being with friends that like doing and being the way I was. I loved dancing and we were preparing for a big all church dance festival. Kids would come from all over and we learned every kind of dance. I loved that my parents were so good and helpful to my grandparents. I remember one winter when my grandpa was very sick we went out to the farm to feed the cattle every evening before dinner. Dad would pull us on a sled to make the trip seem like play instead of work. My dad was always helping others and I could see how it made them feel. I wanted that for me When I would have a babysitting job I would make sure I did the dishes after I got the kids in bed. The mother loved coming home to a clean kitchen and I loved how I felt when something I did made someone else happy. Service was a big part of my life. I had a classmate in high school killed because he had been drinking and I was so happy I lived the word of wisdom and didn't have to worry about alcohol use ruining my life. When I was 12 years old I was hit by a car while riding my bike. It could have been very serious but I know that I was watched over and protected and that made me realize how much my Heavenly father loves me. There have been many other times that I know that my life has been guided by a feeling from divine help. My life's experiences is what I wanted for my children and that is why I wanted to Marry someone with my same beliefs in the Temple of our Lord. Five years ago we lost a niece to a rare cancer and a sister - in law to breast cancer and knowing that we will live together again is worth it all. Following my commitment has been a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

Most of my service in the church has been with the Youth. I have enjoyed going to camp, taking them on high adventure hikes, and doing great service projects for our community. One of the best was we took 300 young people down to Florence Az where there are 17 prisons. It is old and had a lot of lots that needed cleaned. the population of the town is filled with inmates families who could use some help. We cleaned off lots, tore down an old house so that a new one could be built for a family that coud get help in building one if they could get the lot cleared. It was a huge project but the kids felt so amazing after completing such a big task. Another time we cleared a lage plot of ground where the Mesa cemetery was going to expand. then we washed headstones and the kids loved finding familiar family names. Another time we hiked Arivipa Canyon where you are walking in water most of the 14 miles. Early on we were hiking through this field at the mouth of the canyon and I stepped in a gopher hole and turned my ankle. We had just started and I didn't want to turn back so the girls helped me carry my pack all the way we had a real adventure. Later I went to the dr and found out my foot was broken. Hiking in the cold water had been a big help. Teaching sunday lessons gives me a wonderful opportunity to learn gospel principles and then to share how we live them as we have different activities. Recently with our young adults we just painted a mile of block fence along a busy road that had been filled with graffiti and every time I drive down that road I enjoy the beautiful new coat of paint. I have 2 young girls who visit me each month and I love being a part of their work and school activities. I work in the temple two days a week. One day I am in the baptismal area and get to see those young people who faithfully come every week.
