Hi I'm Sharon

I grew up in California and Utah. I'm a mother of four beautiful children and three grandchildren and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello my name is Sharon- Swimmer, Helper, Achiever, Reader, Oath keeper, Ready to go and do--er. I don't hold a PHD from a respected university nor am I a dynamic career woman but one who savors and celebrates home, family and friends. I'm a cancer survivor, married to a wonderful amazing man and the keeper of my castle. I love biking, swimming, reading, music, theater, cooking, the Spanish language, my grandchildren and simple pleasures. I love seeing fall colors, spring flowers and all types of wildlife. I delight in watching warm embraces at airports and determined purchasers who buy flowers for someone they love. I find joy in hearing a beautiful song being sung, piano music floating through my hallways, rain dancing on the rooftop of my car and the sound of absolute silence in the mountains. Feeling a babies soft skin, the citrus smell of a freshly peeled orange, lemon or lime and my happy feet when they glide across a clean floor. I'm grateful to be alive to enjoy so many beauties around me, to lift and love those who cross my path and for the opportunity to continue learning about this life; desiring to be a good student along the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because it enlivens, strengthens and adds color to my life. Simply stated, I am a better, happier person when I follow the teachings found here. I relish in understanding truth, how to be happy, and in recognizing recipes for overcoming difficulty and heartache. I love attending, learning and educating myself about Christ-centered, life-saving principles. There are no sour obligations, no bitter demands or requirements here, only gentle, noble invitations to those seeking answers; it is quite rewarding. Best of all this gospel journey comes wrapped with a prized gift attached, a deepening relationship with God our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ our Savior and the Holy Ghost- the great comforter, prompter and conveyor of heaven's messages. I believe we lived in heaven before this life. We were sent here to receive a body, learn and grow through an earth life experience with an eventual return to our heavenly home. This experience is absolutely essential to fulfill our eternal purpose in living. I like to think of it as my personal study abroad. I know we are individual agents of how we will use our time here, for good or for bad. We will undoubtedly disappoint Heavenly Father in some of our choices, but all is not lost. For the Savior cares so deeply, so completely about each of us, that he has accounted for a way to clear every inch of sin, every crack and crevice of my transgressions no matter how dark, and thus return home with a clean slate, doused with divine purity, to our heavenly home again. I know God lives, I know I am his daughter, and that he is my loving Heavenly Father that made all of this possible for me and you. He understands us completely, surely and undeniably. I know Jesus is the Christ. He is the great and absolute rescuer of our souls through his atonement. These truths mean everything to me.

How I live my faith

Because of my faith and testimony of these things I hold dear, I have raised my children to know of these truths and we have tried to live them all our days. Recently I had the grand experience of leaving home and family for three years to serve a mission with my husband. We experienced the sweet blessing of working with 450 men and women between the ages of 19 and 80, sharing our testimonies of the gospel with those seeking answers to their prayers. This was incredible!! Like opening the cover of an unknown book, filled with curiosity and wonderings, we discovered after a few short pages of paragraphs, something so delightful and satisfying, so rewarding and tasty, that when our service was completed, it was hard to shut the back cover and lay it down for someone else to pick up and read. I find great joy in being of service to others, in trying to live the gospel as we read about in the scriptures, in trying to adopt attributes of charity, humility and compassion lived by Jesus Christ. I try to look for opportunities to reach out to my neighbors, friends and others who cross my path in love and friendship, hoping to do something good.
