Hi I'm Ben

I'm a husband, father of three beautiful children, I recently completed my PhD, and I'm a mormon!

About Me

I'm from Queensland, Australia and I enjoy spending time with my family, playing sport, being in the outdoors, running my dog and gardening. I am married to the girl of my dreams and we are the proud parents of three beautiful children. I love being a husband and father - my family keep me focussed on what matters most in life. I love watching my children grow and explore the beauty of the world around them. I am an occupational therapist and after many years of study, I recently completed my PhD in the field of acquired brain injury rehabilitation. I work at a local hospital and enjoy the daily challenge of helping others rebuild their lives after the devasting effects of brain injury.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents are wonderful people who desired to raise their children with righteous standards and principles. Throughout my high school years, I attended early morning seminary classes (i.e., scripture study) and it was during these years that I came to a knowledge of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself! Through prayer and scripture study, I came to know that I am a child of God, that Jesus Christ is my Saviour, and that we have a prophet on the earth today. This knowledge has brought me great happiness and continues to guide how I live my life. I chose to serve a 2 year mission for the Church and was assigned to the Thailand Bangkok Mission. Living in a foreign country, immersing myself in another culture and language, and teaching others about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ was an invaluable experience. Since returning home, I have endeavoured to practice what I preached as a missionary! My life is enriched each day as I strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon influences all aspects of my life! I rely on the power of prayer to guide the decisions I make each day. It is a great blessing to know that through prayer, I can communicate with my Father in Heaven - I know he answers my prayers! As a family, we pray together and study the scriptures each day. Every Monday night, we get together for Family Home Evening - this helps our family stay close to each other and provides an opportunity for my wife and me to teach our children righteous principles - faith, hope, charity, love etc. Being a Mormon helps me strive to live a balanced life. Despite the busyness of work and other commitments, I am very aware that the most important work I'll ever do is within the four walls of my own home! I also live my faith by serving others. Currently, I serve as a counsellor to the Bishop in our local area. I enjoy working in the youth program of the church and helping others as they face the daily challenges of life.
