Hi I'm Jeffrey

I grew up in England, I worked in the construction industry and now live in Toowoomba Queensland. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandfather. I enjoy running, English vintage and veteran motorcycles, Welsh male voice choirs, reading , teaching religious education at the local primary school and talking to people. I like to spend time in my vegetable garden . I have renovated a number of homes and feel at home with a hammer or saw in my hand. I spent forty years working in the construction industry starting as an Estimator and then going into contract administration and project management. I have four children and eleven grandchildren who I see most days and have developed good taxi driving skills taking them to their various activities. I met my wife when we were neighbours living in England as teenagers and have been married now for forty seven years. My ninety eight year old mother in law lives with us which teaches us some useful skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I was visited by Mormon missionaries who presented to our family the story of the visit by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to the boy Joseph Smith in 1820. They also left with us a copy of the Book of Mormon which we read. Asked to pray about the information they had given us and the content of the Book of Mormon I received a testimony that what they had told us was true. This receipt of testimony was so strong that there was no way I could or would deny it. Since that experience I have felt my life guided by this wonderful influence of the third member of the Godhead. Knowing that the Saviour, Jesus Christ took upon himself my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, died for me on the cross and is my Advocate with the Father cleansing me from past sins, is a great comfort and motivating force in my life.

How I live my faith

I am trying to follow the example of the Saviour in my daily life. His charge to love one another, to be unselfish, to be patient and kind will change the world and make it a better place to live in. I am involved in various organisations that promote these qualities, plus donating money to worthwhile causes to help humanity. I try to be an example to my family by the things I do. I enjoy organising family shows where children and grandchildren can display their talents in music, dance and the spoken word. I try to be a good neighbour and help out when the occasion arises. My church duties enable me to organise activities which encourage us to reach out to our family, friend and neighbours. Each week I get to teach the basic church principles to recent converts. With another member I visit church families each month making sure they are looked after when the need arises.
