Hi I'm Gary

I'm a husband and a father. I love to play games. I have the best job in the world! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 7 years now and my wife and I have 3 kids. My favorite thing to do is play with my children. Almost every day when I get home from work, the first thing my children say is "Hey Dad, you wanna play a game?" We love playing with card and board games with made up rules, video games, puzzles, and toys. We enjoy swimming because Arizona is so hot! During the cooler months we love being outside hiking, camping, and going to the zoo. My wife and I met as counselors at a summer youth camp. We miraculously ended up carpooling to our camp one weekend and became good friends. That friendship continues to get better and better. Many nights we go to sleep too late because we just can't stop talking with one another. I have the best job in the world! I teach LDS Released-Time Seminary. During the school day, Mormon teenagers are released from the high school for one hour and come to the seminary building which is across the street. Here they spend an hour studying the scriptures, sharing their beliefs, and learning things that keep them focused on the most important things in life that will make them truly happy. It is such a blessing to spend each day with hundreds of great teenagers. I constantly think to myself, "I hope my children turn out as good as these kids." They give me hope for the future of this world we live in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a home with a mother who did a great job teaching me true principles. We weren't a perfect family, but she tried to read scriptures with us and encouraged us to pray together. We attended Church and youth activities. Throughout my young life I was taught to read the Book of Mormon and to pray on my own. As a young teenager I committed to doing this. As I read and prayed there was a warm feeling that entered my heart and clarity that came to my mind that helped know that the Book of Mormon is an inspired book. Reading it helps me see the hand of God in my life and identify areas in my life where I can improve. Most importantly, the Book of Mormon teaches me of the reality of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Reading of His love for His children, and His teachings to the inhabitants of the Ancient Americas helps me feel of His love for me and my need for Him. Listening to our leaders every 6 months when we have General Conference inspires and uplifts me. I know we are lead by prophets, seers, and revelators. As I have continued to study throughout my life and in my teaching, I have seen more evidence of the truthfulness of my religious beliefs. The Bible is inspired of God. I love studying and teaching the Old Testament. The covenants God made with Abraham and Ancient Israel help me understand the need for covenants and temples in my life. I love studying and teaching the life and teachings of Christ from the New Testament. His life was full of love, mercy, and miracles. The history of our Church is amazing and Joseph Smith was an inspired man whose teachings encourage me to serve and love Jesus Christ and my fellow man. I guess to sum it all up, I'd say the feelings I get as I study and live the teachings of the Mormon Church strengthen my relationship with Jesus Christ. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Loving, serving, and teaching others are how I live my faith. Doing these things help all of me feel of the Savior's love for others and for me. Attending the LDS temple helps me feel closer to God and there I find answers to my prayers. Loving my wife and children and creating an environment of respect and peace at home is another way I live my faith. I enjoy visiting the homes of members of our congregation and serving with the young men. There are so many great people around and we need to help each other out. This is one thing Jesus Christ did and that He expects of us. I am happy. The word gospel means "good news". I've always got good news and feel that the smile on my face reflects that.
