Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 46 years old and am married. Together we have 4 children. I chose to stay home and be a mother to our children and I have loved doing that. It hasn't always been easy... but I've loved being involved in their lives. I love being a mother! Now our youngest child is a senior in high school and for financial reasons I have a job outside the home. I work at a nearby doctor's office as the clinic manager. In my free time I like to watch my son play basketball. I also love to quilt, read, work in the yard and go walking.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that were very active Mormons. So when I was 8 years old I was baptized. I remember this was a very special day. I continued to grow and learn in the gospel as I got older and as I continued to attend church and learn more of Christ's teachings. I don't remember one specific event where I just "knew" it was all true. Instead there were so very many small moments where I felt the Holy Ghost warm my heart or whisper to my spirit that the things I was hearing were true. Music has always been a conduit for the spirit to me. I remember several times throughout my youth (and even now as an adult) when music is being sung or played that I will be touched by the spirit and often I will cry. I seem to feel the Holy Ghost more intensely when music is involved. I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. His gospel and teachings provide a path for me to follow. That path has lead me to happiness and I believe it will lead me back to our Father in Heaven. I know that we're given commandments so that we can be happy. Our Father in Heaven loves us and knows what is best for us. That's why he has asked us to do the things that will bring us the most happiness and help us to be safe. The Savior showed us the way to follow this path. We can choose to follow the Savior, Jesus Christ, or not to follow Him. The choice is ours. I know that when I make the right choices I am happier than when I don't. I'm so thankful that Jesus Christ atoned for all of our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. I'm grateful that he gave His life so that we might live again with our Heavenly family. I'm thankful that Jesus Christ's gospel has been restored to the earth in our day. I know it is true.

How I live my faith

I serve with the 14 & 15 year old girls in our ward (congregation). I love this opportunity to meet with them on Sundays where we have a lesson for about 40 minutes and then we meet on a weeknight for 1 1/2 hours for an activity. These girls are amazing and they are such an inspiration to me! They try so hard to do what is right and to follow the teachings of our church even when they go to school and are faced with all kinds of temptations. I feel blessed by my service with them. I also have the opportunity to visit teach 3 other women in our ward (congregation). My friend Kathleen is my partner. Together we try to visit (at least once a month) 3 other women in our ward. These are great women! When we meet with them we chat like all women do, see how they're doing, do they have any needs that we can help with, how is their family doing, etc. Then we share with them the monthly message and have a prayer with them before we leave. I always end up feeling strengthened and uplifted after I've visited with these women. They're amazing and I love the visiting teaching program. It gives us women the opportunity to look after and support each other.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Michelle
I have come to know Heavenly Father slowly and over time through personal prayer, scripture study and studying about him. When I say my prayers I try to envision a kind, gentle, elderly man who knows and loves me. I have had experiences in my life where I know without a shadow of a doubt that our Heavenly Father is aware of me as an individual. I have had specific prayers answered that could not just be a "coincidence". He is God. He is most certainly aware of all of His children and I know He loves us. When I feel that my relationship with Him isn't as strong as I want it to be, I realize I need to do more to draw closer to Him. Show more Show less
