Hi I'm Mark

I'm a father of four kids and a university Mathematics professor.

About Me

My family is the most important thing to me. I have a wonderful wife and four great kids -- two boys and two girls. I enjoy my work as a professor and university administrator, but it's the time with my family that I really live for. I also enjoy serving as a Bishop to a congregation of married Mormon students.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I the gospel of Jesus Christ gives meaning to everything I do. Knowing why we are here on earth, what God wants us to learn and accomplish, and what lies ahead after this life makes it easier to keep perspective on the trials we go through. As a mathematician by profession, it's important to me that my beliefs make sense and are logically consistent. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is all of that and more. My faith is not based on that logic, because faith is something we gain from spiritual insight and not logic, but I love the fact that the gospel *is* logical. The answers and perspectives that it provides are truly beautiful.

How I live my faith

I'm currently a Mormon Bishop to a congregation of young married couples just starting their families. This has been a wonderful experience, seeing the strength and faith of these young people and helping them as they encounter difficulties in their lives. The greatest experiences I have in that role is to help in giving blessings to sick or struggling members using the power of the Priesthood of God. I have felt God's power compensate for my weaknesses and give me abilities that I need as a Bishop that I know I do not have simply by myself. I could not do the work of this calling without the help I know I get from Heavenly Father.
