Hi I'm Joey Hansen

I'm a Mormon. I was raised in an inactive Mormon family. Loving friends helped me gain faith. My LDS Mission saved my soul.

About Me

I have worked in Hospital Philanthropy for over 20 years. I ride a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 motorcycle for fun and love to golf. I am a father of 4 and a grand father of 3. I love my family very much. I have a very long commute to work, nearly 60 miles, one-way. I love to listen to books on CD while I drive. I love movies and have recently joined Netflix. My family trade is house painting but I only do that in my own home. I come from a family of 7 kids. I am the last one so my parents were in their 60's when I was in High School. Most thought they were my grand parents. I have a Master's Degree in Public Administration and consider this to be one of the best and most profitable decision of my life. I own three saxophones including a Selmer Mark VI and have played all of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an inactive Mormon family is a small community in Utah where nearly everyone is Mormon. I was the "fellowshipping" project for my Priesthood Quorums. I never really got myself into trouble growing up but it was not important to me to attend church, grow spiritually, or serve. I met a young lady who was a LDS Bishop's daughter. The family challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. I did as they asked because I wanted to marry the daughter. I was able to receive a strong witness of the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon. The next likely step for me was to serve a Mission. I served in the Oregon Portland Mission and this really changed my life. I had only been active in the Church for a few months before I served so it was initially a huge culture shock but I served honorable and loved my mission. I am the person I am today because of my 2 year commitment to the Lord.

How I live my faith

Mostly, I serve. I am the Stake Clerk so have the chance to work with great men in the Stake Presidency. I have two families that I home teach and I do enjoy them although it is sometimes hard to get out. I have held a current temple recommend since my mission and have a life long goal to never be without a current temple recommend. Most recently, I was elected as a County Delegate for my county so I will have a chance to get involved in grass roots politics. My Church encourages us to get involved with communities and politics. I am a conservative and strong member of the Republican Party.
