Hi I'm Nancy Paxton

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Arizona. I'm a wife,mother and a school teacher.

About Me

I'm just a normal mom and wife with 3 children and a dog. I teach 8th grade math at a public school. I enjoy my students at school and seeing them grow and learn. I love to spend time at home doing things for my family. I like shopping with my daughters and spending time with my son and husband. I enjoy being with my family, both immediate and extended. I think it is fun to decorate my house and nothing gives me more of a thrill than to paint a room or find something that really brings character to a space, especially if it is a bargain!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who are active in the Mormon church. I have 3 sisters and 4 brothers. My Dad served a mission before he was enlisted in the Korean conflict and my brothers have all served missions. Growing up my parents shared the gospel with me daily. The more I learned and noticed what I had the more I realized how true the church is. That doesn't mean my family did not have struggles. It just seemed we were always able to work through struggles together, because we were a family. Living the gospel principles was a daily thing in our home. My parents took advantage of teaching moments and always had high expectations and taught me through example and countless hours of service to everyone around them. The thing that means the most to me is that if I live the commandments and live up to covenants I have made I have the opportunity to live with my family forever. Now that I'm a mom, I along with my husband daily try to teach our children the gospel by word and action to be the best they can be. I feel so blessed to be able to tell them that they are children of God. That He knows them and loves them. I know that Heavenly Father knows me and that I am his daughter. He has shown me through his tender mercies over the years. I know Christ lives. I know he died for me and all mankind. I am grateful for this. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, the spirit has witnessed that to me. I'm grateful for the Gospel and the happy way it helps me to be a better person and have a happy life and help those around me, especially those that I love.

How I live my faith

I visit three women in our church monthly, I take time to take them a message and I notice when they aren't there to worship with us on Sunday. I go out of my way to make sure that they and their families are OK. If there is something special going on in their lives I try to acknowledge it as well, or if they need extra help I try to be an extra support for them. I have 2 sisters who visit with me each month and watch out for me as well. I have made some really special friends through these experiences. Currently, I teach all the adult women in our ward every 4th Sunday. It is a special lesson given from previous talks from our current leaders. It is interesting to learn from each other as we have our weekly meetings. As a public school teacher I enjoy our community that we live in. We have great neighbors and many friends. I have been impressed how friendly both my work community, neighborhood community and church community have been.
