Hi I'm Doug

I am a microchip designer and a fly fisherman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, the son of a steel worker and fruit farmer. My home town was surrounded by the beautiful Wasatch mountains. I discovered a great love for the outdoors and enjoy fly fishing, hunting and hiking. As a profession, I design computer chips that go in everything from appliances to automobiles. My greatest love and fulfillment is my family.

Why I am a Mormon

By growing up in Utah into a LDS family one might think that I would naturally follow the traditions of my parents and live out my life as a Mormon without giving deep thought to the doctrines and teachings of my faith. I will be the first to admit that growing up as a Mormon has surrounded me with a way of living that I am very comfortable with. I would say, however, that I am a sincere seeker of truth. I have looked very carefully at my beliefs and have held them up to the rest of the Christian doctrines and teachings in the world. I have not found any other religion that can offer me the hope and faith in Jesus Christ that I have found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I feel as though I am looking through a lens that allows all the truth and love that our Heavenly Father can offer His children to pour into my soul. My life has purpose and meaning and I feel the guidance of the Holy Ghost in my life. I feel the love and approval of the Savior as I try my best to live His gospel plan. Being a Mormon is a way of living, not just a church to go to on Sunday.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is rewarding and filled with freedom and joy. I really like not being chained down to addicting substances and I love being faithful to my wife and children. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a way of life, it is filled with service to others. That service starts in the home and extends outward to other members of the church and into the community. I get to share my love of the outdoors to youth groups within my church. I have been very active in the Boy Scouts of America and help young men to do their duty to God, the community and the nation. It is exciting to participate in humanitarian efforts and know that what I am doing is making a real impact on people who suffer all over the world. I find that true happiness comes when I am in the service of my fellow man. When I worship on Sunday I am reminded of the Savior and how he has set the example for us to live. I strive to follow his example as much as possible. I know I am not perfect in walking in His footsteps, but I feel His love when I try my best.
