Hi I'm Holly Hancock

And I am sooooo thankful that...I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to 5 wonderful children. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting. I love playing sports; and I love letting my kids beat me at them. I enjoy nature--especially hiking and waterfalls. I love to learn. I try to stay focused on the basics of life, so I can enjoy my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I still remember the Sunday when I heard my brother speak after he returned home from a two year mission. As a young girl, I may not have paid as much attention to the speakers in church as I should have. But because this was my big brother, I was all ears! I noticed a huge change in him. I could feel the power of his words. I felt his love of the Savior. I felt his love for others. I realized that if this type of change was possible in him, it was possible in myself. That day sparked a desire in me to have my own testimony of the LDS Church. There were parts that came quickly and easily, but there were parts of my testimony (like my testimony of the Book of Mormon and of the prophet Joseph Smith) that came with much more effort and time. Studying the scriptures, praying with humility, fasting with sincere purpose, and striving to live obediently to what I know have gradually, yet drastically, changed who I am. I care about others more; and I am happier. I love the Savior Jesus Christ with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I was raised a member of the church. My family attended an LDS church every Sunday whether we were home or not (even on vacation, we would find an LDS meeting to join in). This habit has blessed my life, and I am grateful for that tradition. Even though it is challenging to get our young children ready and to behave properly throughout the church services, attending church is the highlight of my week. I am grateful to learn with (and from) others who are trying to show their love of the Lord and follow Him. Trying to keep our family moving along smoothly through the week is difficult. Having Monday designated as our "Family Night", reading scriptures together every morning, working around our home with each other, and spending time recreating help us enjoy life.
