Hi I'm Judy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a "late" convert to the church. I began investigating the church in 1975 and was baptized in 1976. I am 66 years old and can hardly remember when I was not a member. The church has done so much for me and it scares me to think of where I would be if I had not been baptized. I was married June 18, 1977, in the Los Angeles, California, temple. My husband had one child from a previous marriage who was adopted. When we were married, we wanted lots of children but it didn't happen. We became foster parents to 12 children over the years. During that time, we were also fortunate enough to adopt two baby girls. We have been very blessed. Both girls are now married with children of their own. We still keep in touch with many of our foster children, all grown now. We have learned that you never stop being a parent. My husband is a retired lawyer and retired teacher but still substitute teaches. I am still working as a high school registrar and I love my job. I love music and growing things in my garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is RIGHT. I have belonged to three other churches and had much to compare it to and I know that the LDS Church is true. When I first began reading the missionary pamplets, I knew it was true. The spirit whispered to my heart the truthfulness of the gospel. The other churches I had belonged to had portions of the gospel but there was always something missing. Now, the world does not scare me and I am comfortable with my situation in life. I know I am on the right path. I have tried very hard to be part of this world but not be too influenced by it, instead to be influenced by the gospel and the great example that it sets.

How I live my faith

Over the years, I have served in many positions in the church. Mostly, I have been a teacher. I have taught children from 18 months to 18 years, and also taught adults. That used to scare me but then I realized I had the Holy Ghost on my side to help me whenever I need it. When something has occurred in my life so that I could not teach, I felt very lost and wanted to get back to it as soon as possible. When I first joined the church, It scared me to think about teaching others. When I am at work, everyone knows I am a member of the church and they watch their language around me and respect my faith. I hope I can continue to serve others.
