Hi I'm Tonya

I am a mother, a wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tonya, I was born and raised in the church. My family life was not always stable, I come from a divorced family. My own family have not always been active and followed the teachings of the church. I was truly blessed to have the gospel in my life, and have had many wonderful people placed in my life to show me the way to live, and teach me how I could be happy through living and obey Christ ways and teachings. I love to play sports, to sing, play games and be with friends and family. I am a wife and a mother of 3 very active and funny children!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the church I still had to find my own way, gain my own testimony and decide if this is what I believed. Growing up I saw many people in my life make choices that lead them down paths of unhappiness, and sadness. As a teenager a friend challenged my thoughts and beliefs and I decided to figure out for myself if I believed...I began to pray and ask my Father in Heaven if the things I was taught were true? I read the entire Book of Mormon, and took Moroni's challenge(Moroni 10:3-7) to find out if the Book of Mormon was the word of God. I ask if Joseph Smith was a prophet of the Lord, who restored the gospel in these Latter-days. My answer came it was a moment of peace and with certainty that I KNEW it was TRUE that the spirit had testified long ago to me that it was true. I feel joy and happiness when I follow the ways of the Lord. I had seen that in my own life and in the lives of friends and family around me! It is only through our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ that joy comes! It is because of his sacrifice and atonement for all of us that we might obtain true joy and happiness. I have also learned that even though we follow and believe on Jesus Christ, this does not absolve us from trails and struggles in life. But I know that it does help us get through them! The gospel gives me and my life purpose, and helps me know that I am not alone and that the Savior truly does understand my life and my struggles. He is aware of me and loves me and wants me to be like him and return to live with Him again! It is why I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, it is why I continue to strive to live and follow its teachings! It is why I teach my children it principles and know that when we follow them we will and are happier!

How I live my faith

I try to live the gospel in all aspects of my life, in my parenting, in my marriage, with friends and family. The church has given me many opportunities to serve and grow. One of my most favorite and the one I have done most often, is that of a music leader of young children(3-11). I LOVE music and know that is can make us feel happy or sad, it can also teach us. I love to teach the children through music and help them to gain their own testimony of Jesus Christ and his teachings! I have also been blessed to serve with the youth, particularly young women. I have had the opportunity to see how smart, brave and strong they are to grow up in such trying times. They are beautiful daughter of our Heavenly Father and they have taught me so much. I have been able to serve with the Boy Scouts in our church and see what a wonderful program that is for our young boys and how it helps them be better, young men, missionaries, husbands and fathers later in life. I have also been blessed to serve and associate with wonderful woman from many different walks of life. These women have blessed, taught and enriched my life in so many ways.
