Hi I'm Athena

I've lived in Arizona most of my life. I'm a pediatric nurse, a wife, a mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a pediatric nurse for 6 1/2 years now and love working with children. I have discovered that they are much braver than most adults. I am married to my best friend and am recently the mom of a wonderful little baby boy. I love music and enjoy playing the piano and guitar. I also love being outside, going running and hiking. I once hiked the grand canyon from rim to rim to rim in just over a day--46 miles in 27 hours! I served an 18 month mission for my church four years ago in Bolivia and it was a life-changing experience. The people of Bolivia not only taught me how to speak Spanish, but also great lessons about gratitude, unselfishness, and faith.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the wonderful blessings it brings me in my life. By living the principles I have been taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have come to know great peace and happiness in my life, even through times of trial. It has kept my family close together, and through the knowledge I have from being a Mormon, I know that I can be with my family through eternity. This means everything to me and gives me the determination each day to live what I know is right. I know that what I have learned throughout my life in the church is the true gospel of Jesus Christ because I have put it into practice and have seen the wonderful fruits that come from it. I know that God has always given revelation through prophets from the beginning, that He never changes, and that He continues to work through a living prophet today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to put into practice the teachings of Jesus Christ each day. I am not perfect, but each day I make an effort to live honestly, be unselfish, and show kindness to those I associate with. I keep God and my family as the top priorities in my life. In my church I have the privilege to work with the young women, ages 12 to 13 years old. I prepare lessons to teach to them on Sundays about the gospel of Jesus Christ and I help carry out wholesome acitivites for them to attend once a week. I love working with the youth and having the opportunity to not only teach them, but learn from them as well. Through daily prayer and study of the scriptures (personally and as a family) I stay close to God and feel His guidance in my life each day.
